I have used standard size drilled and grooved Black Diamond disc\'s all round and looked all good until my late braking on track came on form and cracks appeared around the holes on the front pair:Grrr. This was with just fast road pads (Soft) mind and not track pads (Hard) which you will find are needed to take the heat the front pads receive and the fact softer pads wear so fast under the strain off consistent hard braking. The rears though have stud up well even after a number of track days. It seems to me drilled disc\'s for FD\'s work well on the rear but will only stand up to fast road work on the front not the mighty work out they receive on the track. Grooved I believe to be a performance advantage on and off track, with the least amount of grooves though (more sweep area), multi groove I feel are more suited for dress up only. Dimples also fall into the dress up arena to, as I\'m under the impression  they are offered by producers due to the cracking problems with drilling, there for offering little in the way of a performance advantage.

thanks guys i have a fb Diamond blacks are around £450 for a full set so im not going with them, plus the FB will only have half the power of the FD so im hoping i wont get problems with cracking (sounds scary though)

I\'ve used slotted discs before with no problems at all - no need for any of this \'lots of grooves\' stuff :)

That\'s two of us that had this failure then.  I know some of the early Porsche Carbon Composite drilled disks and Farrari disks has this problem.  It\'s not uncommon when they\'re pushed very hard.

Mine failed after a few short track sessions and 4 150-50mph breakings.  They did have a nice blue shade afterwards though!

I\'m now using BD grooved rather than combi disks and they really are very good.

EBC do a turbo disc, that is in my opinion better than the black diamond disc\'s...Ive fitted them to a number of cars now.

Drilled discs aren\'t always the best way to go, and when you go for groves make sure they go in an opposing direction to the internal fins, otherwise they develop weak lines as opposed to spots, therefore inducing cracks!  The KAD\'s, AP\'s, and Brembo\'s have the internal veins going in a direction that causes the heat to flow away from the rotors, and the grooves flow in the opposite direction

Fit tin foil disc\'s, fit cardboard disc\'s BUT  Please dont fit EBC,

I have seen these blue and cracked on our cars, ORRIBLE NASTY THINGS.

Good make on a bike but not a car!

Ive never had a problem with these disc\'s....they have never cracked, never turned blue either.....as long as you use the right pads with them they offer pretty amazing stopping power

Like AtomicRex I\'ve not had a problem with EBC discs, the turbo grooved have stood up to some serious abuse, but have had nightmares with EBC pads... Will never use them again!

...Plus drilled IMHO are a waste of time, always crack around the holes, dimpled is a bit better as is slotted, but all a bit gimmiky really, a plain disc will do the job with decent pads IME.

Thanks for the advice guys a lot of the names you have mentioned will not do a upgrade for the Series 1 i have, i am also running far less BHP it was more about understanding which would be the best combination,

thanks again, still slightly unsure but after spending a lot of money on other things for the car i have some thinking time!!

If you just want standard discs at a decent price then try brakes int.

//www.brakesint.com I think. They do BremTec ones that are basically good normal discs and for road use with the odd trackday I\'ve never had any problems at all.

Found it, it\'s http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/ and just check, do them for the 1st gen at a very good price, HTH.

Use Ferodo pads....In my opinion the best pad in the whole known universe!

For road use get the DS2500 pad, they will suit the EBC turbo disc\'s

If you want me to get you a price email me....Can even fit them for you if you\'re stuck for help!

I don\'t know about EBC Turbo discs but I had some EBC discs once which were ok on the road but when I uprated the pads with Performance Friction ones and took them on track ........ warped em immediately ..... orrible.

I have Ferodo track pads now.

The standard EBC disc\'s are purely an OEM replacement.  The Turbo ones are designed for fast road and track work, so shouldn\'t and more to the point haven\'t warped as yet.

Interestingly when I was looking through the Ferodo website they do disc\'s too.  They have recently brought out some new pads....the 1.1 and 2.1  They are to replace the DS3000 range as the top pad....so think I will be getting the 1.1\'s when it comes to replace my current pads.

WHO?

Cant comment about them....but would advise to stick with Ferodo\'s

Skimping on brake parts is one of the most foolhardy thoughts to ever cross your mind.  I know from bitter experience that I couldnt afford the Mitsubishi OEM pads for my 3000GT so used patern pads.....they were useless and after a spirited journey ended up in the back of a Westfield!  No damage to the 3000, but lots to the Westie :(

Thanks again
