Title: Quick FPR question
Post by: TonyC on July 15, 2007, 12:32:32 PM
I\'m fitting an aftermarket FPR to the race car, so my question is: what do I do with the standard one?

If I remove it will need a feed for the fuel line into the primary fuel rail. Is this going to be a simple screw in union replacing the standard FPR, or is a special plate needed? Or can it be left on?

Thanks.

Hi Tony,
You should eliminate the old regulator, the new one goes in the return line.
You should really run a new fuel rail with the fuel feed going to the primary injectors(Ones together in middle of engine) and then going to the secondary fuel rail, and return line going to the new rgulator.
I would reccomend a pair of 1680cc secoandry fuel injectors,Bosch ones.Keep stock 550cc primaries.

Carl

You\'ll need to tap the primary rail for a fuel line fitting Tony. I don\'t think you can buy one to replace the FPR with the same fitting.

Carl, that\'s the exact set-up he\'s got.

I\'ve tapped the fuel rail and put a -6 union on it, you can however get a plate that replaces the stock FPR made by sard so you can run an aftermarket one

I did the same as Alan. Braided stainless steel hose with aeroquip fittings from fuel tank to primary, secondary to FPR and FPR to return. Something like this :

Thanks all. I thought so but wanted to check really.
carl, as Steve says, that\'s what I\'m running - or will be running!

Ah well, something else to take off the car. I should have taken more photos - I feel like the writer of a haynes manul.
