alright gents!! as you can see by this thread (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40274) i was having alot of trouble fitting a single turbo kit i bought so took all your advice and binned it!:p
i am now a new owner of a hks t51r kit thanks to kermit, also for supplyin blitz nur spec backbox and silenced mid pipe
it fitted a dream compared to the supposed t04e???????
this pic shows it without the heat proofing around it but gives ya an idea
av got it going in to wgt on 24th of this month to sort it out including clutch, flywheel, apexi power fc, fuel pump and uprated injectors, and also oil return pipe for turbo coz did not get this in the kit, any ideas what else i could do with?
am also lookin at gettin a koyo radiator soon too coz i know with the front mount coolin is gonna be a bitch!!:rollin lol
cant wait to get it up and runnin again coz its been sat for 4-5 months now:(

You will probably need an ignition amp if running high boost. Oh and a boost controller is you dont have one!

I see you\'ve removed the AST and moved the overflow reseviour, out of interest , where did you move it to?

is the kai bigger or smaller than the spl?
KAI is the smaller I think

at the present moment in time i am running stock ports but am looking at doing a rebuild later this year and will be definately be doing some sort of port then, at the minute tho i will be running it on low boost just to get me back on the road,

it will be good when you get it built and ported but it will be quite painfully laggy until then. Is Warthogs a normal T51r,they look smaller than the Kai and the SPL according to the chart.
Even on a heavily ported REW these turbos dont make full boost until 5500 - 6000 rpm, Warthogs is an RE engine and i think his max boost is over 5000 rpm.
The only answer is a half bridge :) you know you want to!

yeah i know antnicuk, and yes i know a half bridge is the way forward as thats all everyone talks bout lol!:p
i aint to sure on the differences on porting if you can shed some light tho dudes?
Very Basically the bigger/better the exhaust and inlet ports the earlier you will spool the turbo, i dont think you make more ultimate power with a half bridge but you may have less lag. Noise goes up, MPG goes down and your grin gets bigger.
There is nothing quite like the sound of a T51 on full song though!
Of course all this is based on the supporting mods being done.
I had a little head to head on the drag strip at north weald last month with an FD with a T51, he got me on the start but i managed to be 1.5 seconds quicker than him with a higher terminal. No point sticking a huge turbo on it without everything else being done, i think he was quite shocked. Looks like you have got a good starting point but i would do lots of research and speak to the tuners before doing anything and decide what you want to use the car for.

alright folks!!! just a quick update, i have sent me car to wgt couple of weeks ago for all the work to be done:Thumbs-up

exedy clutch
lightened flywheel
apexi power fc and commander
uprated fuel pump
mpg drinking injectors :rolleyes:
alloy ast
check over my rats nest removal and do a bit of vacuum plumbing
fuel pressure regulator
get it back on 10th (this friday comin) and i cant wait!:3gears-rh
next thing is a koyo rad and some bodywork including fitting some skirts and get a respray done and powder coat wheels

Believe it or not but you will get a good fuel consumption, I see 21 mpg. Reason being you are only in the turbo when you need to be.:wiggle
well when it was still runnin twins i was only gettin 240 miles out of a tank so thought it would be alot worse,
however if it was 1mpg am ok coz my main car is a clio diesel which does 50mpg so it cancels out any bad mpg on my rex right? lol:cheers
