Title: Looking For Some New Tyres? FD
Post by: N777CK T on July 12, 2007, 01:38:25 PM
...and I don\'t really know what is best on RX7s?
I used to just use Yoko A539s on my last car but think i need better for the RX?

Ive looked at Falken FK-452 255/40 ZR17 94Y
Precise handling and high directional stability  • Perfect aquaplaning behaviour, longitudinal and diagonal,    for highly agile and well-balanced driving in wet conditions  • Low noise under various speed zones  • Sophisticated tread design in unique FALKEN look  • Globally successful, comprehensive range of sizes  • Maximum safety and durability
£83 each they\'re not too bad?

or should i be spending more like...
ADVAN Sport £119
Michelin Pilot Sport 2 £141.30 - (what my mate uses on his FD)

what do you guys use? thanks nick :3gears-lh
(all of these tyres are classed as Summer Tyres on mytyres.co.uk and have a max speed rating of 186mph or more)

Good year Eagle F1s GSDs from Mickledever tyres cost me £440 all in including balancing alignment for a set of 4. Brilliant in the wet and dry

The Falkens get VERY good write ups pretty much everywhere. My mate had them on his M3 and loved them. It\'s what I\'ll be buying if I decide to go for normal tyres instead of R888\'s next time.

I have been using those Falkens on my FD and am very impressed with how well they perform.  Definatly the best tyres I have used without spending a fortune.

Just did 13 laps of the Ring with brand new Falken 452s, I think the tread blocks were too high for the ring and will be better when part worn.

To be honest I wish I had spent the extra cash on the Super Advans.

Hi Mark,

I see you\'ve already spotted that Ace Meets are off.

The Ring was fantastic, best trip ever! I\'ll start a thread and maybe my bro will also share his experience, well if he doesn\'t then I\'ll tell all.  Weather was great, brakes are pretty much dead but everyone survived which is what matters.  Tyres were a bit new and brakes were cack but I still did a 9:16 BTG so I\'m happy with that.

What\'re these like?  I\'m looking to replace my F1s with something a little more focussed...

personally I\'d spend the extra 30 or so a wheel and get the Yoko Super Advans.

You mean the 888\'s?

I love them but you do lose a bit of the entertainment value of your car on the road. They stick like sh1t to a blanket so to get any sliding going on you\'ve got to either be pretty brutal or be going a damn sight quicker than you really should be on a public road! They\'re surprisingly good in the wet too, as long as you avoid any standing water.

I\'ve got some Bridgestone potensas and they are ace in the wet or dry!!! cant fault them & they don\'t ware to quickly eather!!!

A mate had the pilots on his liner & they were sh!t in the wet..... he\'s now running the Falkens & has the same grip in the wet as the pilots had in the dry!!!

are the "!advan sports" i mentioned the same as "yoko super advans" ?
what are the advans like in the wet though? if they\'re better than the falkens ill get the advans... otherwise it looks like i stumbled across the right tyres (falkens) from the start!
thanks for all the replies!!!

I have Falken 452\'s on mine for a few thousand miles. They are deffinately value for money but dont expect uber grip in dry or wet, they are pretty good in both - there are a lot worse tyres you could buy!

I\'m pleased with mine :Thumbs-up
