*feels beaten by a bolt*
I\'ve got my old Ohlins off the car and they have been sent off to be refurbished (they were Jap spec ones but the motorbike Ohlins guy can get the bits as they deal with load of Jap spec ones off the race bikes)... So got about fitting Eddie\'s old Type X suspension.
Rears, no probs, all on and good.
Fronts, a total nightmare! Got everything all lined up and 99% there except for the bottom eye bolt, the one that goes through the lower wishbone and bottom eye of the suspension strut...
...We just couldn\'t get the metal tube in the rubber bush to fit into the suspension arm, no matter how much we tried, the fit is just so amazingly tight!
I\'m assuming they should be the same for all years? Mine\'s a 94 Type R2, but type X suspension should still fit right? Or is there a trick to it? Or do I grind a bit of the tube off ;)
Cheers,
Mark
yep i found the same thing..... what i did was line every thing up so that the bottom of the sock is sitting directly over the gap and then i used a scissor jack to jack up the lower arm till it fell into place....
Was this with standard suspension? The aftermarket stuff is normally a lot shorter so easier to get lined up, but the type X stuff is pretty long so getting it above is really tricky!
Did you remove the ARB to release any excess pressure?
yeah i diconnected the front arb mounts and then did it. This was with my mazdaspeed suspension so i dont know hw big that is compared to the standard stuff. Also id imagine the bushing on the standard stuff has more give. In the end i ground one side as i couldnt get it to line up for ages. Alternatively, you could try and widen the gap?
I think I have to change my ARB mounts anyway so may as well get that off and out of the way ;)

That\'s what I\'m thinking... Otherwise I\'ll be going mental trying to get it in, when it\'s just for a month or so until I have to do it all over again when my proper stuff is back!

I\'d rather not as that\'s on the lower wishbone, so I\'d rather keep that in one peice :D
Cheers for that, I\'ll let you know how I get on!
