ok i have a bubbling noise coming from the middle rad cap i have checked the coolant levels from the expasion tank and the two other rad caps which i presume is main filling point and the air separator thingy everything is full up and im not losing any water the heater blows hot and the temp gauge allways sits just under half way it only bubbles when i turn the car off then a second later you hear it start bubbling away? what could this be some sort of air lock or??:xconfused
could be a dodgy seal, meaning its boiling because not under sufficient pressure.
Try a new rad cap.

cool thanks ill get some new ones any recomendations or is it best to get some from mazda?
And don\'t go by the standard water temp gauge - it only moves higher than hafway when it\'s overheated.
you can ge tcaps from any motor factor, or mazda ones tend to be reliable but expensive. If you are replacing both just make sure you get the correct pressure for the AST .9
Take your old caps to a factor and tell them you want replacements, will cost pence. Even if you are ordering from mazda it would be worth investing in some cheapos whilst waiting for delivery.
ok just checked my history and the ast cap was replaced in march i have ordered a new pressure cap for the engine filler point lets hope that works maybe this was a problem before as its allready had a new ast cap

the cap on the filler neck is not a pressure cap just standard available from anywhere.
i have on you can have for a fiver posted if you need it.
hth
Ok just want to check i got this right hehe heres a pic 1.is the reservoir right? 2.is the engine fill? and 3.is the ast? the bubbling noise im getting is coming from 2? not furious bubbling but does sound like something is gentley boiling ><(http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f7/jimjitsu/numberdfillingpoints.jpg)
you are correct but 2 is not a pressure cap, 3 is.
so there is no point in replacing 2. unless there is visable sign of leak from it then?
I had the same prob with my car, and after 3-4 times it started over heating.. Turned out i had a leak from ma rad and the hose that connects the rad to to ast.. got them changed and then flushed the rad. put my coolent in and it was all fine.. nd make sure you got no air bubbles stuck in thier.. easiest way is open up the engine fill, get a bottle half full and stick it in, hold it up right, ull see bubbles coming out and water going in. once the water stops at a level you have no more air trapped their.
Jimi, John here, how\'s it going? I was worried about the bubbling noise too, you probably only notice it after a hard drive right? I replaced the AST cap and the main filler cap with little difference. When I took her to Carl Hayward they thought there might be an airlock and replaced the coolant, no difference. They then noticed the new AST cap I bought had a dodgy seal and replaced it with the yellow stickered one, much better, could hardly notice the bubbling. So both your caps are pressure caps, the silver one is for a Mazda 626 and is almost brand new, the yellow one is from Carl but as long as it\'s not leaking, should be ok. After searching the forums it looks like bubbling noises are quite common and as long as you\'re not losing water I wouldn\'t worry about it.
