Depending on wether it\'s a double din or single din, Most stereo\'s here in the uk are single din, but a lot of imported cars from japan come with a double din stereo that takes up 2 spaces in the dash. There is not a cage because all stereo\'s come with threre own cage. You bend the tabs on the cage to hold the stereo in the dash

If it\'s a double DIN stereo, chances are that it\'s bolted to the inner frame using plates that are bolted onto the sides of the units. To remove those you usually need to remove the surround, unscrew the one bolt each that holds the plate to the inner mounting frame and then take the whole thing out.

You can usually get some releasing keys to slide down the side of it to remove the stereo from the chassis/cage.

What make is the stereo?
