I have a 1988 2nd Gen Rx7 N/a.
When starting up it tends to rev high to about 3000rpm (ish) Stop at that, then after a while drop down to normal idle revs 1000. Whats the reason behind this? is this normal behavior or is there a problem?
Any help much appricated :2eek
that sounds normal to me IIRC ... 3000 rpm may be a little on the high side. You should be able to adjust the high idle speed somewhere.
Thank god, lol. Whats the reason behind it though?
Second of all, my power window on the passenger side gave up not long after getting it. Its slowly died. Is there a way to repair or somewhere to buy parts to fix it? Anyone else have problems with power windows dying>??
don\'t know about the window but the reason for the high idle is because it is part of the cold start cycle.
Cheers mike
Automatic warm-up cycle . Its supposed to heat up the CAT to help emissions.
forgot to say if you blip the throttle it should drop down to the normal idle speed straight away

Or hold clutch pedal in.

Yeah i noticed that. lol. Strange things these rotorys, but so much fun! Is there anyone in the westmids with an old fc? Just curious
dont think there is any in the midlands area - i could be wrong though
and yes the revs is the cold start - just rev or start with the clutch pressed to stop it
does the passenger window work from the drivers side - or just not at all ??
you didnt buy my old one did you lol it sounds like the one i use to have , the window use to get stuck all the time , and it would rev high on start but i put this down to the auto choke
