Title: This Battery Ok ??
Post by: Teighto on July 01, 2007, 10:50:50 AM
Right had a clear out of my Shed and i found a battery that i bought for a previous car, still boxed up and not used.

Here is it, and specs
(http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/images/westcobattery.jpg)

It uses the very latest absorbed glass mat technology, this advanced battery has no free liquid electrolyte - unlike the Panasonic "wet gel" battery. It also has a higher \'amp hour\' (31) and a higher \'cranking amp rate\' (475).

Designed specifically for the MX-5, this battery is a direct replacement for the original Panasonic battery. Appart from being cheaper, the WestCo is also 30% more powerfull with a cranking rate of 475 amps.

The main features are:

Sealed and maintenance free
Absorbed Glass Mat construction, not a comventional \'flooded\' battery
Liquid-free, no gassing and zero terminal corrosion

would this be Sufficient enough for the REX ??

as i am relocating the Battery to the Boot i thought its best to have a sealed Battery.

So if ya think the above battery would be good let me know !!!

Would have thought so, alot of people use tiny Odyese PC680 sealed batteries. The only downside is the battery discharges quicker if the car is left.

You need a sealed battery if you want it in the boot, you won\'t get through scrutineering if its an acid battery not in a box in the boot.

Ive just got a PC1500 thats also sealed, not cheap and huge thing. Need to still fit it in the boot though !
