Title: Problems, Problems and more Problems
Post by: h_kaz89 on July 01, 2007, 03:10:28 AM
hey everyone. Okay ive been having more problems with her day after day and its killing me. My friends are telling me to sell her and get an scooby or evo, but theirs something about her that wont let me sell. And ive decided to keep her and treat her to all the treats i possibly can. But at the moment as shes the only car i have and i got to go to work and stuff i need to drive her everyday.
Problems are is it keeps on telling me to add coolent! and i knw i knw i cnt drive her if i here that sound.. I thought i may have a leak some were in the rad, so i got that changed.. Started all fine drove her around, parked up, switched her off. 30minz later get in turn her on and their goes that high pitch beep, add coolent! I have no idea wat to do, and need to fix the prob. If its a water seal, im geting a rebuild done soon, just waitng for ma pay day, and if thats the case i wnt drive her untill i get that done.
My second prob is my 2nd turbo is not boosting, accorinding to my frndz, how can i get that checkd. Would i need to buy another turbo? how can i get it fixed?
Im putting a 3K +/- limit on getting everythin sorted out. Is that enough? or would i need to spend more. Im looking to do a front and rear face lift. looking to upgrade my intercooler and rad. Ofcourse the rebuild and finally getting everythin not working properly to work fine. I want the car mint. Cuz i cnt let her go away, wen i put my foot dwn its lyk nothing else ive drivin.
Ny help will be more than appreciated. If ny1 has the time to come dwn and check her out, that will make my day.

Hi Kaz,
It seems that you are planning to do the right things.
When the engine is rebuilt,if it does indeed need a rebuild,it should be possible to check the turbo\'s out then.
You may not need a turbo, either,it could just be a plit or disconnected vacuum hose,or a solenoid not working, that would be covered in a rebuild too.
Regards
Carl

Step 1
Do a search on here, there are some hints that will help you fill up the coolant so that all air pockets are removed.
Step 2
Let us know what happens next.

Step 3
Be very sure to NEVER overheat that engine - makes the rebuild much more expensive.

Hi Kaz,

You have had some good advise already to help you and a kind offer of assistance, but one very common "fault" is that people fill all three places with caps that say water and if you do that the system can\'t find it\'s proper level and dumps out more water than required and the buzzer often comes on.

Only fill the one directly on the engine and leave the other two alone and the system will sort itself out.

Hope this helps,

p.s. forget about your mates comments with the Japanese Sierras and tell your sticking with a drivers car :rollin

Thanks for the help every1. Jus finishd a 4hr job under the car. Chekn all hoses and ny leaks. Turnd out there were two leaks, one from the pipe connecting the AST and rad, and the rad it self. So i changed the rad and changed the hose. Drove around, startd beeping again, thought it was a waste of tym, but didnt give up. Rememberd i only put water and no coolent. So i empteyd her all out and filled her up with water an coolent. Drove around again, seemed fyn. Check after for more leaks, seems all fyn. fingers crossed. Clive thanks for the pointer, i was putn water first in all three places. Today i said let me just try the main one, cuz it should fill the other two, and it did. One2watch, im in willesden green, north west london, i can travel dwn to u if u cant come dwn.
Carl if it does need a rebuild, weres best to take it? and how much am i looking at 4 a rebuild?
Thanks alot
Kaz

easy peasy mate th plastic vac tank, look under the left hand side of it or whip it out, you may have to loosen the hard boost pipe you\'ll see a yellowvalve with a black end, mine had broken in two
