Title: On the lookout for a nice FD, Few questions..
Post by: David88 on June 28, 2007, 11:42:55 AM
Hi there guys and girls,

Ive recently become smitten with the Gen3 FD RX7. I have browsed this forum and found it very useful for info, and I now feel informed enough to possibly buy one,but i was wondering how i can view the for sale adds in the members area? As i beleive buying a members car would be a safe bet. It states there are no posts. Do i need to pay for the privilege?
Im coming from MR2 Turbos, and feel a nice stage 1 rex would be a good progression, sorry for the newbie post, perhaps you guys can help me out

cheers

Dave

Hello mate. You need to pay a £25 annual membership fee to access the members only area.

David, you would need to become a full member to see the members section. Although I can tell you now that there is not any FD\'s in there.

Your best place to look is in the FD For Sale section at the bottom of the forums. Just look for Full Club Member under the username.

If it\'s a rev1 MR2 then the FD is sooo much better in the wet! Having a decent suspension setup helps (Maccy struts are always a bit pants) with the FD as well.

But they changed the rear suspension on the Rev2 MR2\'s onwards as the first ones were setup and complete ditch-finders... Backwards! The FD is much better balanced IMHO.

yes winter was always a good time to get front end parts for MR2\'s and a heart breaker at the amount of stories of people going backwards,  but its not too bad its just a case of RWD Demand respect of the driver.

Hi,
Thanks for all the comments. Yes i had a 300bhp rev3 turbo, that provided plenty of brown underpant moments in the wet. Massive fun despite horrendous fuel consumption :eek
How much would a compression test from a mazda dealer cost?
There seems to be a few good early examples on the market, but i would prefer a later model. As i see it the rex seems to be good value performance wise comapred with a Skyline for example...
Are the facelift models more powerful [280bhp] ? what kind of extra power would breathing mods release? and can anyone quote performance figures?

thanks again, sorry for the newbie stuff, im sure it gets asked alot :Thumbs-up
