the rad coolant thingy behind the drivers side headlight, should this be bone dry? its an overflow reservoir right?
Nope, it shouldn\'t be bone dry. There\'s a \'full\' mark on the dip stick and I\'d say that it would be a jolly good idea to have enough coolant in there to get very close to said mark.

Err id tend to agree, till you manage to keep a constant level in there id sugest not driving it.
If thats empty then you most definitly have a problem.
ok so what do i buy to stick in there? ie is there a definitve brand that everyone uses?:3Confused

Just regular coolent is better than nothing, lots of people here have thair preferences but most run on any good brand of regular coolent.
But a few things 1st.
Have you checked your coolent in your engine ?
Pop the filler neck top off and have a look and see if there is coolent present, If not then shame on you and put some in, if there is then you may have a blockage in the overflow itself.
sorry bout this but where do i check to see if there is coolant in the engine, (i know i\'m an idiot). when i fill her up with coolant, does it have to be diluted in any way with normal/distilled water and if so what ratio coolant to water?:Hammer
Pop the cap off the AST (with a cold engine) and have a peek in there to see if there\'s water in there.
I wouldn\'t get the cheap coolant as it\'s usually cheap and nasty; I usually either get the Comma X-Stream (the \'green\' one with Glysantin in it) from my local motor factors or to top up the RXs I use the same stuff that RoTechniks put in, namely some Valvoline long-life coolant, which also happens to be a very fetching shade of pink. Erk.
If you get the concentrates, I usually mix it 50/50 with de-ionised water - of which I\'ve got an ample supply as I\'ve got a dehumidifier in the garage - and I wouldn\'t go over 60/40 coolant/water.
Of course the simpler way is to get premixed stuff but I find that a bit too expensive for my taste.
ok, thanks for the help guys, she\'s all sorted now. i love this forum!:) :)
