Title: brakes on!!!!
Post by: 93type-x on June 26, 2007, 04:46:17 PM
What will it be that causes my brakes to come on on their own??? this is normal motorway driving , then the car goes all sluggish then i little bit on or stop for a bit and it frees itself,,could it be
a) ABS over heating ? the line for the right wheel...
b) master cylinder and pot overheating? causing expansion of fluid...
c)  something worse....

I will be flushing through and using DOT 5 as soon as i change the back discs next week, but if anyone has  the answer please tell me cos its kinda worrying and mullering my front pads,
Cheers
SI

sounds like brake master is knackered...the seals are probably shot...or possibly knackered caliper (s) but less likely...

Been through this a while ago.  My problem ended up being the rear caliper, they were seized.
You can check whether your brake master cylinder is leaking or not by looking at the back of the cylinder (where it connects to the brake peddle).  If its dry up there, then chances are that your master cylinder\'s fine.
