I brought a full set of injector o rings and diffusers  (12pcs) from Pip @ WGT.

It\'s to seal the fuel rail to the block properly else you could get fuel coming back past.  It\'s only an airtight seal but should be in good order!  Help pattern of the fuel being injected in too I believe.

i think they are called diffusers,  they are to aid fuel atomisation and help starting.  If you buy a mazda o ring kit you get them included.

As rico says, if they are not there at all the injector o ring will sit too low and you will push boost (and fuel) out past the injector.  If the round bit at the top is there but the bottom bit has broken off then the injectors will seal but you MAY have flooding issues or poor throttle response but i cant say for certain.

The above is how i what i inderstand them to do but a pro may say i\'m wrong.

Something to bare in mind when fitting them, they have a little pretruding bit on the diffuser where it seats in the block, this lines up with a notch in the block, the little white dot on the top of the diffuser site at 12 oclock if you are standing looking at the exhuast ports, this ensures the angled diffuser faces the right way and the little extrusion fits in the notch in the plate.
