Title: New Car problems! - Intermitant Rough Idle loss of power.
Post by: leon on June 23, 2007, 09:47:45 PM
Hi guys, ive suddenly developed a new problem on my car, still being new to how these engines work, this one seems a lil out of my league atm! the symptoms im haveing are as follows:

Car Starts perfectly fine (Hot or Cold) Runs for an inditerminate amount of time with the correct idle then suddenly goes realy sluggish as if its bogged down during this point if you try to push the accelerator it doesnt want to know, a complete loss of power! i had this on the motorway to work on friday and it cleared up after a second or two, then on the way home which got me worried! as i had to limp the car home via the backroads. (but as its intermitant the problem cleared up after a mile or so and the car felt normal again)

id realy appreciate any advice on this!

Recent changes to the car are that i have redone the rats nest (replaceing the vac pipes, turbo controll solenoid, the WG and Precontroll, and the check valves.

could this possibly be the map sensor or a fueling issue?

Either map sensor or might be time to change your plugs chap, if there car idle is lower than usual and sounds like its runnnig on 1 rotor then get the plugs out and see how badly they are carbon\'d up :D

nah its not 1 rotor for sure, ive seen that in a rx7 they are as rough as hell! last one i saw than ran on one rotor the car was shakeing violently, my car idles smooth then just goes realy low as if its wanting to stall and complete lack of power. ill have a look at the map sensor tomrow clean connections et al. is there anyway to test them?

how sensative are these lil guys as its possible its been banged while i was working on the vac pipes.

Okay ive been out today checeked over all the hoses and connections, then i thougth Hey why dont i check the fault codes, (managed to get a simple LED, Dont ask motor stores they just look at you dumb) Connect it up and it get two fault codes For the Turbo Pre Controll and Waste Gate controll! - i kinda diverted from my fault finding of the idle at this point and had a look at this problem. but not im utterly confused! ive tried both sets of solenoids i have (bought a spair) both click when voltage is passed through, and ive used that LED on the end of the wires to see if power goes through to the connectors (which it does) but im still getting the fault codes any ideas?

oh and the idle seems to have sorted its self now just came back from a drive and its puling like a good one again :evillaugh
