Title: Return to Sequential?
Post by: DMDRIFTING on June 23, 2007, 06:24:14 PM
Right been looking through the site at many threads on non-sequential set up etc.

I have a completely stock FD3S, standard exhaust etc, that is runnning non sequential, with bad lag.

From what i can see it has been set up the poor mans way and would like to return to normal sequential set up, have meters of vacuum pipe, just need to know how to return it?

Any help will be great appreciated

Thank you all in advance :cheers

have a look here http://www.fd3s.net/how-to.html (http://www.fd3s.net/how-to.html) click on turbo. should just be reversal, also good pic of rats nest in the vac bit. Phil

This is not gonna be as simple as the Supra conversion return

If i manage to complete it successfully  i\'l post a how to!

Can anybody quickly answer if the poor mans non-sequential set up on the FD3S is just a case of adding two one way valves in the correct vacumm lines (as with the 2JZ-GTE)?

Thank you

Duncan

If it\'s the poor-mans then you\'ll probably need to:

1) refit the wastegate actuator. Unpin the control arm.
2) re-plumb the turbo pre-control BOV.
3) replug the pre-control solenoids.

This could be a 20 minutes job, or much, much worse depending on how far the person went with the non-seq job in the first place.

Awesome that gives me something to start with, thank you!

With regards to unpinning the control arm (wastegate actuator) what would be the reason to re-attach the wastegate actuator if the control arm is not used  :2Confused

Thank you

Part of the conversion is that you remove the actuator and lock the (primary) wastegate open, this is done by pinning the control arm. It is this mechanism that stops the second turbo from spooling until you want it (4.5k rpm). It basically diverts all the exhaust flow into the first turbo only.

Ahh i understand the control arm (Wastegate) on the turbo, not the actuator arm :D

Gonna get on this as soon as i can!

Thank you
