Right. After much long hard thinking I\'ve decided not to go single. Cant really justify the cost and to be honest I love the feel of the sequentials :)
BUT
I really do need to sort out my cooling as my air temps are getting rather high. i currently have an Arc intercooler but its not the most efficient thing in the world. Looking at building an intake box for my filters and lining it with CF to keep the heat out.
So I\'m just after a nice front mounted intercooler that wont cost me the earth. Bearing in mind I\'m going to be ditching the air pump now I\'m decatted.
Have you tried these ?? not sure how good they are tho ?

keep the intercooler you got and fit WI, about £200 for the basic system and watch your intake temps drop when you boost it

did think about it. Just one question......what happens if you run out of water in the tank?

things get hot and go POP! lol
for info for the rest of you if you dont tune for it (eg take fuel out after fitting WI) then when you run out of water or if the system failed then u will just see a return to high intake temps again.
If you tune for it then you will need a low level water sensor and clog detector and an LED to show when the pump is activated. I have seen a kit on ebay that contains all these.
Thanks for the info blitzboy I think thats my best way to go. I\'ll do some research and you lot can expect some really noobish questions soon :)
I have a SMIC and have fitted the coolingmist dual stage water injection.
To give you a comparison:
I was out on Snetterton track last wed, it was a pretty hot afternoon and evening. Bear in mind I am running hks RS mushroom filters and a Greddy SMIC with only standard ducting. I was driving pretty quick and boosting the car quite a lot (0.9 bar on stock twins). The intake temps never went over 37 degrees. My mate who has a stock intercooler and a large Re-Amemiya filter with the stock boost was seeing 75-83 intake temps !!!!
A huge difference in my opinion !!!
I havent played with methanol yet but reckon I could get the intake temps down at least another 10 degrees with a mix of water/methanol.
SMICs arent as bad as people make out, the water temps also never went above 90 (I have a stock rad but the fans coming on earlier), I think with a FMIC these would have been a bit higher.
so would it be as simlpe as buying and fitting a ~£200 kit and hay presto, low intake temps, or are their other things you have to do?
That\'s pretty much it :) as has been said if you use WI for reliablilty/safety not performance it\'s not the end of the world if you run out of water.
I\'m Gareth\'s mate :yes and will be getting an Aquamist 1S system fitted before my next trackday in August :)
Cheers,
Alex
me 2 WI all the way :)
Lol Alex, nice pic by the way !!!!
Adie Moore - You are correct, low temperatures. However when you are in a queue of traffic then the car will still heatsoak the intake temps but once you start moving you can bring the temperature down very quickly.
My car has been mapped not using the water injection so I just switch it on when needed. But there have been instances of people who have the car mapped for WI, it running out and then the car overheating.
I have the UK spec RX7 rear wash bottle to hold the water for the WI....it is huge !! Bigger than 5litres !! As you can imagine that doesnt run out very quickly at all. It goes behind the panels so it isnt seen, worth the £100 it cost from Mazda !!
There are loads of threads about the topic and some good pics of the installations that are worth searching out and reading.
My next plan to further reduce temps are a vented bonnet (primered at the mo), ducting/shielding for the induction cones and also some custom ducting for my Greddy SMIC.
more pics price etc please :Thumbsup!
Gareth, did you get your Coolingmist kit from eBay? Cos £200 seems a bit cheap tbh. (edit - not that cheap is bad, just haven\'t seen kits priced that low ;))
Demon Tweeks sell the basic Aquamist 1S kit at normal RRP (£380 incl. VAT) but a quick Google search shows //www.turbobits.co.uk selling for £342.75 incl. VAT. No idea what they\'re like to deal with though.
All pics, installation notes for the various systems at //www.aquamist.co.uk :)

Alex

Wouldnt mind trying one of these
hmmmm good idea , But CO2 costs for refills, water is free :)
well if the Co2 bottles from ur local pub fit....
Im gonna shut up now ;)
I\'d go for an Apexi GT fmic.....
Massive 3 row....the intercooler daddy.....
:flamed
ive just had a rebuild and front mount intercooler fitted and also turned the boost up and if im driving hard for a bit temps go very high so just ordered a aquamist water injection kit, just hoping it sorts it out :o
so big front mount intercooler, water/air chargecooler, water injection aaaaaaaaaaaand

one of them should keep intake temperatures frosty cool :) although the parts weight would probably outweigh the performance gains lol

I thought the GT was a 4 core Intercooler...I\'ve got one of these and it is the daddy of intercoolers, but they don\'t make them anymore, so can be difficult to find.

Pretty sure it\'s a 3 core.....:3Confused
I\'ve one on mine and was told it\'s a Apexi GT3 but like you say, they\'re not being made anymore......
Don\'t you love peoples expressions when they see it.......:evillaugh
Yeah the guy who fitted mine had an intercooler specially made for his RX7, and he basically told me he measured it up so he could get the biggest thing possible in there...
Anyway a few months later I rock up and say I\'ve got a new intercooler to fit and produced the Apexi: He could not believe the size of the thing :) And was suitably impressed with it...think he\'s trying to get one now
