Ok... I\'ve been working away, taking bits and bobs off my old engine etc.
So far I\'ve taken off :
UIM
LIM
Air Pump
Turbos
Oil Filler neck
Coil Packs
I think that\'s it.
Anyway, here\'s some pictures of my progess so far.....

Here\'s the new block...
(I know the oil filler neck shouldn\'t be on just now, but I just put it there to keep it out of the way)

I\'m now wondering what\'s next??
I was thinking possibly it\'s time to take off the alternator etc on the front of the old block? Or is it time to tackle the rats nest??
If it\'s time to take the rats nest off, how do you go about removing it? I had a quick look and I could only see 3 screw I think ontop? (or am I looking in the wrong place?).
Any help much appreciated!! One thing I am worried about is where all those hoses go!! ... lol
one word on rats nest TAKE YOUR TIME(ok thats 3)
and when u come to remove the old pips cut them lentgh wise at where they join the solonoids or youll be posting on here for spare ones(yip i did lol).
best thing is to put engine`s side by side and see what needs to come off one to go on another.
take your time mate nothing worse than rushing it to find once its in you forgot something
Yeah... I just tapped a hose and the nipple from something fell off!! lol. Luckily I had a spare anyway.
I do have them side by side..... but just curious what to do next?
Should I take everything off the front, then leave the rats nest till last?
I\'m lost now! ... lmao.
One thing I did notice is slight differences between the LIM from my old block and the new one. Some things angles differently etc. I\'m just sticking with my old one as I know it all fitted as is with my car.
Theres quite a few threads showing the vac lines for the rats nest. Either would be good next move. The oldskool motors the rats nest comes away mainly in one piece. Not played with the FD one though ! Might need to though, have a boost issue.
Shaun
Yeah, I was kinda hoping it would come away in a one piece. Would make things a little easier. I suppose if I do find that I have a floating pipe when finished, I should be able to suss out where it goes using the diagrams?
Are these screws (circled) how you get the rats nest off?
you dont need to touch those screws, its 2 or 3 12mm bolts the other side of the block towards the oil filler neck
Cheers mate, I think I saw them earlier on.
The rats nest is attached to the coils as well!
Got it off....
Gonna replace all the hosing now.
