Title: handbrake light
Post by: TiddlesRX7 on June 16, 2007, 07:19:58 PM
The handbrake light on my TII keeps flashing on under acceleration and sometimes stays on altogether. Think it maybe a sticky switch. Anyone had the same issue and how did you solve it?

Sticky switch or your brake fluid could be getting low,   but dont just top it up, cos it`ll have a leak,  maybe :)

Most likely low fluid level as Mick says - check how much meat you have left on the pads - when they get low you will the fluid drop and the light will flicker under acc/decel/cornering. :yes

Ade, when I had the car serviced at WGT it was doing the same thing just before - I believe it\'s just the handbrake cable that needs adjusting - it wasn\'t pads or fluid level.

spray the switch with WD40 and see if that helps

Right time for an update. I had the car into a mates garage today to look at the gearbox. (Its notchy going into 4th both ways). He topped up the oil level and the clutch master cylinder fluid. Now on the way home I went for a play and the light never once came on. I presume now that it was a fluid level warning light. Not sure i\'m right as its the brake light but hey it seems to have cured it. Just a shame that 4th is still bad!
