Post by: CharlieP on June 16, 2007, 12:21:08 PM
Hi all,

Having the auto I\'m looking at buying is having problems cutting out at a 3000 is rpm.....but can be driven gently!? Any ideas?

Has anyone on here successfully done a auto to manual conversion?
Getting quotes of around 2k from some specialists!?

I think you will be able to just change your ECU to one for a manual gear box, and then change your gear box. Thats what I\'ve heard...

Or just change the gear box and bridge a connection on the auto box sensor to make it think its always in drive... lol

You need to change out the loom aswell, along with the rad as autos have an extra cooler built in. Then you\'ll need the gear surrounds in the cabin.. its not quite as easy as it sounds!

I\'ve managed to find this:

Regarding the cutting out problem, see the Rob Robinette site (//www.robrobinette.com), and look up 3000 rpm hesitation. There should be plenty of info about it on here and FDUK as well. I had it on mine, and it turned out to be engine gounding.
