Whos insured a seam welded and roll caged, single turbo FD?
Just wondering what the new quote could be for any or all (esp the cage) of the above mods, it\'d be as a classic second car with limited milage at around 3K? :3Confused
I\'m currently thinking Aon, followed by A-plan then THB Egger Lawson going on what I\'ve read. It doesn\'t have to include track cover.
£750 from AON for single tubbed, running 430bhp rwp with roll cage.:)
I used THB and they are excellent - plus i get track day cover... shame the engine hasn\'t lasted long enough to make it to the track
How are they one ageism ?? Do any of them do under 30 ?? Looking to go single soonish !

Cool! Shall give them a call on Monday! :D
Spoken to Aon and said the car was between 350-400bhp with cage etc.. and they said they couldn\'t insure a car that modified WTF??!!
I couldn\'t speak to Adam as he was unavailible but how stupid is it that only one person in the company can insure modified RX-7s....

WTF????????
I got a quote off them last month for my FC with a quoted power of 430bhp
2nd car, garaged, 5k limited miles - £494!
I\'m going to try again but speak to Adam. Otherwise I\'ll go give my money to another insurer. I was asking for only 2K limited miles, garaged and alarmed in a decent area. This was the spec:
Body:
Kazama auto body kit (front and rear bumper, side skirts)
GT Rear Wing
Scoot Bonnet
Footwork and Chassis:
18" Volk Racing Gram Lights 57-FPRO rims
Feed PRO coilovers
Brembo 8 pot front calipers and rotors
Engine:
Single turbo conversion - 350bhp
APEXi GT Spec intercooler
Koyo Racing radiator
R-magic exhaust
Interior:
APEXi Power FC ECU
Multi-point welded roll cage
Blitz Boost & Water Temp gauges mounted in centre pod
GReddy turbo timer
Recaro carbon kevlar bucket seats
Removed interior panels
Removed all stereo equipment
I\'d have a chat with A-Plan. They\'ve got no problems with modified cars (dunno about cages) and they seem knowledgable. I\'ve just added a FPR, fuel pump and WI to mine and it didn\'t increase my policy at all. They seem to care more about what you are actually doing rather than \'oh, you changed your gear knob...that\'s £50 extra\'...Plus you can suspend driving cover and get half your policy back for those months when it\'s only on fire and theft. You can only do this once a year though.
Why as soon as you mention a roll cage do the insurance company\'s not want to insure you or bump up the price?-its only a safety addition and does not increase the value of the car nor does it add performance?

That will because they know damn well you have the cage fitted for a reason :Giggle :3gears-rh :burnout :Laugh :Nono!
Its the old "spike on the steering wheel" theory. If you feel safer because of the cage you are more likely to push the car harder and more likely to crash.
Some modern cars are so smooth and quiet that people should pay much higher premiums because they drive like nutters in any weather.

Got my renewal policy back from houghtons today. They want £547 for my current setup on twins. Thought I\'d ring them and ask how much extra a garrett 3574 single would be (GT35r minus ball bearing) with approx 20-30 bhp ATW more than my current setup. They have said an extra 50% on my premium and £100 more on my excess. I\'m actually quite happy because its not much more than what i paid last year for this policy :D
Not sure my turbos will survive much longer so I need to start saving :D

720 quid on the FC, all mods declared, including FIA/MSA spec cage and 8000pound agreed value. Through Sky. Aon quoted slightley less, through Adam, but had to pas another deposit.

Put my cage in in april rang AON to let the know and it didnt cost me anything extra, was amazed. 27yo 3000miles 325hp all mods declaired n its £530 fully comp. Just got a garage to put it in now as well so it will hopefully come down a little bit.
mods are volk alloys, feed exhaust system , blitz intercooler , re filter, caged out with buckets and harnesses, defi gauges, battery relocated. Full RE body kit.
Intresting AON insured you as anyone but Adam will say you have to be 30, and an FD with a mod is too modified! I think its crazy that ONLY Adam will insure modified RXs with cages at AON.
I\'m going to go with THB Egger Lawson, covers all my mods and includes trackdays too (although its a 2K excess yikes!) - plus I have an agreed 20K value all for 700 a year. Not bad methinks!
Not sure if it helps that I live in deepest darkest Cumbria , AON insured me on my standard FD3s when I had just turned 26 no probs and this time round ive got the 6K fire claim on my record. Dont think I even talked with adam when I got insured, maybe he gave it the ok though.
I\'m 26, didn\'t speak to Adam, and got insured through AON for £450 a year for 5000 miles fully comp. Car is unmodified, but I have a MK1 MR2 on the same policy. I asked about putting my brother on as a named driver, but they said they couldn\'t insure anyone under 25 - he\'s 23.
Interestingly I had an MR2 with a roll cage in that I got insured through my policy I had with firebond at the time. I usually insure my MR2 with them, and the last quote I had was under £250 before I went with AON for the rex with MR2 combined. Very helpful as well.
Well it seems they will make exceptions if the car isn\'t modified which is good! A shame they wouldn\'t consider mine.
