Title: needle goes all the way to the right
Post by: michaelb on June 15, 2007, 02:17:25 PM
Hi All

I have a strange problem.

I have 2 gauges installed, one for water temp and the second one for oil pressure.  ( autometer gauges )

While the stock gauge for oil pressures shows normal pressure, the after market one as soon as I turn the ignition on with out starting the car the needle goes all the way to the right, shows maximum pressure and stays there.  When I start the car it does not move and always stays at the very top.

What is it?  Is it my gauge?

Regards,
Michaelb

Check the wiring - looks like it\'s either getting 12V or is grounding out (depending on which way round the gauge is working) instead of getting a feed from the pressure sender.

Thanks for that, it has been fine for some months, did an MOT test - passed it and on the way back this happens...wiring in side the car or under the bonnet?
