You left the power steering pump on! You didn\'t have to remove it. Most people leave it in situ. (But yes, they are actually pretty darn heavy!)

No.. this is the new engine. I\'m just gonna take mine out in a oner with everything attached. Disconnected the PS lines/AC lines etc.

There\'s another thread on the engine removal.

it\'s easier to leave the lines connected (so no fluid/gas loss) use the slack in the lines to move them out the way and then refit the pumps to the engine once it\'s in. It sounds like more work but it\'s a lot easier and cleaner that way.

me n my mate changed a 1.0 3cyl vauxhall corsa engine with no engine crane just lashed it to a scofolding tube and lifed it over the front with all its bits off they are really light, and once in you can have all the bits on and running in about 40mins lol

i think you have to remember these are 2.6cc thats a heavy piston engine

Mark
Title: Engines are not light!!!
Post by: olly-civic on June 14, 2007, 10:03:07 PM
how do people work out the 2.6 bit?
Title: Engines are not light!!!
Post by: mpk490p on June 14, 2007, 10:05:36 PM
cubic capacity the rotory is actually a 1.3 as far as i know it was agreed by the dvla and insurance companys to class them as a 2.6 because of the power they produce (plus gordan can get more on tax for those unlucky ones that have uk cars)

Post by: olly-civic on June 14, 2007, 10:09:46 PM
yeah cos i thought each rotor is about 650cc so 2 of them works out at 1.3 obviously the rotor has 3 sides so if you added them all up your be closer to 3.9 mines on the v5 as a 1.3 everyone says im a lucky sod cos i get my tax for 63quid but in comparison to their normal boring piston cars i use the diffrence i save in petrol in an hour or two

Erm, no reason to multiply by 3... The swept volume of the two combustion chambers is 1308 cc in a 13B. As has been mentioned the 2.6 thing was purely a DVLA fudge due to the disproportionate power output of rotaries for their displacement compared to a boinger (I guess their way of translating a rotary combustion cycle to a 4-stroke).

Cheers,
Alex
