Title: Mappin Session with Reworx..
Post by: jay on January 25, 2004, 10:42:36 PM
Some of you may read the other thread "MAP NEEDED" . Well I\'ve sorted a mappin session out with Geff from Reworx on 21.02.04. There are 4 of us goin down and if we can get 1 more person Geff said he will drop the price to £200 pre motor. This is a very good price for settin up your car and a full power read out. Anyone who is interested please let me know. This will work on a first come first serve basis.
 Cheers Jay...:wave

Just so people know, it will be at CPL Racing on their Dyno Dynamics RR; they are based around the Isle of Sheppy I think...

Hi Jay,

I\'m hopefully gonna get my hands on an APEXi shortly and this would be the ideal opportunity to have it mapped.

As I\'m not 100% at this point please put me on the list anyway and I\'ll let you know ASAP.

My hesitation is due to me awaiting some more funds (if I can get some that is)!

Cheers

Ben

Hi Jay, would love to come on the mapping session but dont think it would be worth it with a slighty slipping clutch! What do you reckon.
Title: Mappin Session at Reworx..
Post by: jay on January 26, 2004, 07:42:47 PM
Not too sure really.....Could be difficult as the revs will rise and the wheels wont spin straight away therefore makin it hard to setup.Hopefully someone who is a bit more technical than me can answer this a bit better.....

No its not going to be worth it with the clutch slipping.  Its likely to be worse on a RR too from my experience.

Get your self a twin plate in there and get used to it before u get the single done :) Spreads the cost a bit too :)

Unless yer having internal engine work done of course which means engine out, may as well wait in that case to save a few quids worth of labour.

There is still a slot available Matt. Ben has preference as he asked first but he is not definate. Hopefully he will let me know soon if he can do it.If he cant the spot is yours mate, should be a good day.
Yes that was my car in DS. Had to have a new clutch and went back to slightly modded standard as my twin was too much aggro and I killed it anyway sittin in traffic. After all that I wont be usin all the time now so could have stayed with a twin but it is nicer to drive on a standard one even if it does only last 6 months.

Hi Jay... Bad news... I had a big spin out in the wet - did 180 and ended up in the currb, really f\'d up my rear wheel and arm/bits so it\'s off the road (couldn\'t even drive it home)!

So I don\'t think I\'ll be having my car mapped for awhile...

Thanks for the sympathy Jay, I should have my motor back on Tuesday - what timing!! Just in time for the meet in Dartford!

I\'ll have to see if I can afford the re-map ... hmmm... I don\'t think so!!

Plus I still need an APEXi, is it right they up the fuelling when you have other aftermarket parts fitted? Or does it just do what you tell it!

Fetch boy!! and that sorta thing.

Do you ever get that feelin you done something before.....
As far as I know ben the Apexi will adjust your fuellin to suit what you are runnin assuming it is still a twin.I was hopin to make the meet on tuesday but have been told by my girlfriend that as its my birthday I\'m not allowed as she wants to take me out..Maybe next time.

"Apexi will adjust your fuellin to suit what you are runnin"

If only - you need to map it to your car and mods.  The map that comes with it runs rich and assumes a couple of mods, think they are intake and exhaust.  Also be aware that mechanically identical cars can behave differently.

Aha... I see! So getting it mapped could save on fuel?? Over a ten year period it could pay for itself!!:p

I\'m still after one, even without the controller and map just so I know my cars not gonna go boom. I\'d rather fork out for petrol than a rebuild.

Happy Birthday mate BTW!! How old are you this year eh? Shame you can\'t make the meet... I\'m gonna pop down, now that I finally got me car back even tho it\'s on temporary 16s (cheers Lee :D ).

No worries Jay, I am no expert.  You can download the Apexi Power FC and Commander manuals from //www.apexi-usa.com.

I expect that Geff will hook up a laptop to the Apexi PFC and modify your current map using third party software (Datalogit). It is supposed to be much easier than via the commander.

I am currently running Apexi on a stock setup so I expect mine is far too rich at the moment and a little down on power, hopefully I will get that sorted   and maybe better fuel consumption, currently averaging about 17 mpg.

Any details on getting down there yet?

See Jays other thread bud.

Who\'s booked up then? I think Geff has two non-MRC guys arranged, an old guy and Joel with a single turbo; who else? Make sure every ones booked up with Geff cause its a long way to haul and not get on the rollers!

Good to hear you are comin Grahame. Spoke to geff this morning to arrange details. He would like us to be there for 8.30am. I believe CPL Racing where we are goin is on the Isle Of Sheppy, I will get the address tommorrow and post it.Where are you in Essex in Grahame, might be an idea to meet up on the way? I \'m gonna meet one of the other fellas Joel on the way so if you fancy it let me know, perhaps the Lakeside services on the M25?
Also if you want to pay by plastic give Geff a call before and he will sort it out for you.

Do Geff a favour guys, check water and oil before you turn up on saturday and if yer cars not performing 100% as it should do i.e. boost leaks/problems, the smallist of eletrical issues, whatever - let him know in advance. It saves discovering them on the rollers and wasting a couple of hours for every one...

And bring some cash for the greasy spoon down the road! :)

Cool, just speak to Geff and Guy (CPL) beforehand just to make sure its gonna b good for Banzai; its not the biggest place and with a few cars to do it only takes one problem motor and the day starts disappearing quickly - not ideal if you have a camera to perform for too ;-) Cant knock free advertising though I guess!
Title: Mappin Session at Reworx..
Post by: Gman on February 17, 2004, 09:13:49 PM
Banzai would be cool - did u email them or actually speak to them?

I\'ve let Geff know about my problems with boost etc and i\'m getting my plugs changed tomorrow.

Spoke to Joe at Banzai (deputy Editor) and he said he would have love to come down but its a bit short notice and he wont be in the country anyway. But..............what he would like me to do is get some good photos and some sort of write up and info he has said he will turn it into a 2 page article.
Problem is I dont even own a digital camera let alone know how to use one. So I need some help here guys, anyone any good with a camera.Basically the photos are what will make the feature as the write up will be written by Joe just directed by what we give him.Emphasis on WE as any help will be gratefully received. Basically this is a great chance to get your motor in the mag a bit advertising for Geff and CPLand Joe has said this is just the sort of tech stuff he wants. Please get in contact with me to see what we can do.

Take the lakeside exit  before the bridge and as you come upto the roundabout go straight over I believe it saya services and you then run parallel to m25 for a bit and then on the left you see services pull in and go round to services and not petrol station.
