Title: Well the cab passed the MOT
Post by: grinder on June 11, 2007, 11:52:41 AM
As per the subject really :D - the car passed no probs - with no advisory\'s either

im shocked to say the least - its been stood for over 2 yrs - makes all the hard work worth while

im hoping the auto box settles down soon as its a bit of a nightmare - if you floor it - it revs but goes no where

im hoping that driving it more will sort that out .. failing that .. manual conversion

it feels a lot tighter than the coupe did - but then it has half the milage

off to tax it now and take it to the northwest meet tonight :D

Stu

Well done matey,

Stu, i would consider getting it treated underneath before it goes rusty, it defo worked on mine.

Try changing the gearbox oil/fluid , that may help with the gear change.

Well done bud, as said change the box fluid and you will find it will improve quite alot. It may need just topping up !

Weather looking good for some roof down action :D

I\'ve undersealed the 1st gen, works out about 30 quid for supplies. about £8 for rust convertor, £8 ish for zinc primer and £11 for hammerite underseal paintable. You will have black hands for weeks :Giggle

yeah i was thinking that aswell

its not too bad underneath - its been treated at one point

just not sure what to do with it - underseal with waxoyl or just use waxoyl ??

the gear box - humm thats interesting to say the least - if you floor it at 40mph , it just drops , red lines but no increase in speed :(

oil change seems a good idea - will have a read up about it

and it didnt like much above 120 with the roof down ... and you have to shout at the passenger for them to hear you !! LOL

that\'s 120 km/h eh Stu? ;)

The wonders of convertible driving, the MX5 was the same at motorway speeds conversation was a total no-go

Actually I find my convertible to be OK unless you go at silly speeds (a lot less noisy than the MX-5 I used to have), but it\'s still a lot noisier than a coupe.

it seemed pretty rapid !! :D

defo 120 MPH

slowed down to about 70 - wound the windows up and then it was OK

such a quite ride to be honest

at 80 - it was easy to talk to the passenger :D :D :D

oohh very nice - lotus elan - always liked them :D

Its been a long struggle to get the car to this point - but all worth it

ended up getting

1 - new ECU ( Aus )
2 - new ABS ECU ( UK )
3 - New headlight swithces ( Aus )

so it took some time finding the correct bits for it !!
