Title: Missing fuel filter
Post by: Sidzrx on June 10, 2007, 09:33:43 PM
So I finally got round to servicing my FD, But when I came to changing the fuel filter, the filter wasn\'t there. Thought I was going crazy so had someone else check underneath, and they couldn\'t see one either!
Ive checked the manual as to where it should be, but is definately not there.
I assume there may be an inline filter of some sort somewhere, but where I don\'t know.
Anyone got any ideas?

I know that it is meant to be there, but its not. Nowhere to be seen. That\'s why I was wondering if anybody knew of a likely place that an inline filter may be mounted? Or if maybe there is such thing as a filter that fits directly onto the fuel pump?

Are we talking FD here? If so, you can\'t see it! Well, barely: it\'s hidden above the diff!!

I could take a pic of mine if you like as I have no rear subframe/diff atm so you could see where it should be at least?

I know it is meant to be above the diff, but am I right in thinking it is placed more towrds the drivers side of the vehicle?

Yeah, i can remember doing mine a few years back (Got to do it again soon) and it was a case of just feeling your way around. You can\'t really see it once you\'re underneath it.

I\'ll have another look, but I swear when we were in the pit there was nothing above the diff. would I be able to see it without taking the covers either side of the diff off?

yeah you can see it without the covers off
also see if you can see pipes anywhere around the top of diff might help in a direction if someone`s moved the filter to a more suitable location lol

ie under the bonnet or in the boot lol

Here you go, it\'s right on the center line of the car, just follow the fuel tank strap up and there it is.

Yeah found an inline one, not too far away from where the original is meant to be. Got a much bigger problem now though, My gearbox is ****ed I think, was hopin it was the clutch but speakin to my old man he reckons its the gearbox.
