Title: Diff brace fitting
Post by: Ricco_04 on June 09, 2007, 11:33:21 AM
Hi all,

I\'m having a really spazzy moment again! :o

Brought the Dragon diff brace through the Rotaryart group buy and went to fit it a few days ago.  Pretty simple job, just six bolts so thought I would have it on it no time.  Unfortunately it doesn\'t seem to fit due to other things being in the way. :(

Can any one who\'s fitted one give me some advise please.  Here\'s Picture to see what I mean....

1st problem is the bolt that holds up one of the shields (circled on right) has a big tab under the shield which means the brace wont sit far enough over.

2nd problem is the circle on the left (darker bar).  The ridges on the sides of this also catch the brace meaning it can\'t be bolted into position.

Please tell me im doing something wrong! :o

Cheers for the replys,  I\'m gonna go out there now and have another go as the backs on axl stands still - it\'s gonna go on one way or another.

That picture actually really helps :Thumbs-up  - think I was making a schoolboy error! :Laugh

Yeah where is that big hammer and oversized Bob the builder screwdriver!

Almost there (no I havn\'t been doing it all this time :chat)  The nearside bracket still has a clearance issue due to where the bars of metal meet one of the other bracket\'s.  So just checking I am still doing it right :o

This causes the holes to not match up.  Now it is no problem to extend the holes but my only concern is no not invalidate the lifetime warranty these come with by doing so - but thinking they should just bolt up?  :3Confused

Just drill it out a touch further, most car chassis bend and flex to a degree so no two cars are ever really the same.

Looking at that pic the bar is just simply in the wrong place. I have a dragon brace but its not fitted yet. My friends with engineering shops took the **** out the welding on it. Be interesting to see if it has the same problem.

I don\'t think you need the original brace - the dragon brace replaces it
