PUK clutches like that are more aimed at the track day type car. They are useable on the road but have a sharpe biting point.

Whats the budget as there is avery wide range avalible.

I know you said above upto 600BHP but do you have any ideas on Torque? There may be an RPS option avalible for you that would come in under that.

Do you really need a clutch like this mate, what power are you running. They are not friendly on the road, especially around London? I just mention it because I have a fairly similar one (xtreme one like in reworx stripey) and it is tortorous driving in traffic. It handles the power brilliantly but just isn\'t nice in traffic. Its very hardwork. If you don\'t need such a hardcore clutch I\'d definately recommend not having one!

again looking at just under 600ft/lbs,because i may get a turbo that pushes the car past 600bhp,but atm im just looking for something that has scope for handling large levels of torque that isnt for drag applications. what did you have in mind?

lol,my rx7 isnt my daily drive,i know about the awful traffic feeling, but once you get to the track it\'ll all be worth it! its for future preparation,i dont drive the rex to work or anything,so just take it out when i want some fun!! im getting my single turbo done soon and will hope to push about 400 at the flywheel, but with only a t04e...hehehe

I was going to suggest the RPS MaxPUK clutch but is torque cap is around 475ft/lbs.

£558.78 inc vat if thats of any intrest.

Some thing that can take 600ft\'lbs day in day out will cost alot more.

    cheers

Also, a 600bhp rotary isn\'t likely to put out 600lbft, more likely within the range of the rps clutch already quoted.

yea i thought so memski,im still weighing up my options, maybe go for a cheaper clutch whilst the power is still low,and then upgrade again when i need to?

If 500 is the very max you can spend, then why not compromise and go with the act street/strip clutch with xtreme pressure plate? I\'ve seen rx7store.net do them cheaper than your company, or see if they can match the price?

i have a racing beet 6puk clutch plate with the ACT pressure plate. Its rediculous to get used to. I remember stalling it about 1 in 10 times in traffic, after about 6months i found it ok though. good thing its never slipped once though. I tried to launch the car off the lights once and the 275 tyres i have slipped in 1 2 and 3rd gear. The clutch was fine though!

    Good evening Gentlemen,

Really can\'t comment on a RPS MaxPUK clutch as I have no knowledge of this product and just may be the best thing since sliced bread, how ever I do have experience of ACT through unhappy customers!,

When the Japanese guys from Exedy paid me a visit we got around to talking about the fact that ACT has no quality control, meaning you can buy one and it\'s O/K and the next will fall apart with no miles on it.

They informed me that this is because they are old second hand reconditioned assembly\'s made by, well, anybody.

They also informed me that they had found their own product before now under the yellow paint!

I know your looking for recommendations and personally would recommend that if your not Dragging then go for a "cheap" Centerforce Duel friction clutch as this keeps the standard "heavy" flywheel that has lots of inertia to stop those jerky get aways and have a real smooth driving car, or a Single Plate Exedy Hyper clutch/flywheel assembly if you do want to get dragging.

BTW a lot of people think its the "puck" clutch that makes, jerky but its not that really, 85% of jerky comes fom the super light flywheel that has no inertia unlike the stock flywheel that helps the car initialy get moving

    Hope this driveling on helps!

    Hi Kash,

We have a few cars that are twin and small single Turbo cars running around with our MRP/Shy developed Exedy Stage one clutch (Sports Clutch) with cerametalic "puck" center plate with high three hundreds  with no problem.

We "developed" this clutch with Exedy to give a relativly cheap clutch that could take a bit of power for our cutomers here.

    There are more details here,

    Hope this helps,

thanks for the info guys, well I\'m only running about 300hp at the fly but will all change in summer. I just want a clutch that will last a while but can also handle a high amount of torque. scary what\'s being said about act tho...the price at my site is the whole clutch kit,not just the clutch like at rx7 store.

im about to buy the ACT clutch from ED in the for sale section can anyone comment as i would really really appreciate some as i dont want to be replacing it twice.

it is used so that should hopefully mean it doesnt have this quality issue  right.

    does anyone else have it?

    thanks in advance,
