Title: Front Bumper Painting advice
Post by: Bulla on June 08, 2007, 10:50:58 AM
I\'ve test fitted my Type 2 R bumper from Shine Auto and all appears to fit ok. I took it down to my local painters and they quoted me about £220 from spraying, does that sound about right ? The guy said it would be a lot easier if I just delivered the bumper to them, but I\'m worried about colour matching. Should it be ok to just deliver and let them spray ?

Cheers

Problem with just dropping the bumper off is that they have no chance to match the way the paint on your car has faded over the years so chances are it will look slighty different.

My FD\'s a case in point, it\'s about three different shades of black at least. It\'s not that noticeable depending on the light conditions but the wings are a brownish black and the bonnet is a blue-ish black.

Oh, and the front bumper is black with red cracks.

In other words, that\'ll be the next full respray. *sigh*

Take something like a popup cover for them to match the paint. I should get mine back this weekend thanks to Kev (d-king) :)

Sensible idea :) I need to get some black mesh, might have to pop to Halfords and this other place in town and see what they\'ve got once I get the bumper....will have to let me know what\'s best for holding the mesh on.

Price sounds spot on.As long as they\'ve got the right paint code you should be ok.See how much they\'d charge to mop n polish the entire car when the new bumper is on.That should make the whole car match nicely.:)
