Title: Exhaust Vibration / Noise
Post by: BleakBoy on June 07, 2007, 01:55:49 PM
Hi, have a wierd one here,

Every now and a again I get a vibration noise from my exhaust, I have check all the mounts and downpipe, and everything is on and tight and not vibrating against anything but still every now and again, it makes the noise.

I have a HKS Downpipe, and a good o\'l ebay XS-Power exhaust for the rest, and it only makes the noise once the car is upto temperature. or when I am at full boost at about 7k rpm

I am just wondering if the exhaust has falling to bit\'s inside in the mid pipe or backbox, and also it does make the noise if the exhaust pops. Maybe time to change the rest of the exhuast to a better make or quality?

Hi Jon,

With the car warm and doing the noise, thump the back box with a glove on and see if the inside rattles, next will be check the heat sheild above the backbox as these fracture where they mount to the body.

Also the exhaust will grow when its hot - so it could also be touching/rubbing on something at this point.

i have a similar problem, but the vibration is quite heavy and feels like its coming back through the whole car and i have a stock exhaust system =/

the car does have a missfire at idle and i\'m gonna replace the plugs. its really hesitent in the last 1k and i\'m positive its not performing as well as it should.
