I know there have been a couple of threads on this very topic in recent months but I am struggling to locate them.
Does anyone know if a rear-facing child seat will fit in the front (or rear!) of an RX-7? If so then what seat??
Also, if an airbag is fitted, can it be switched off?
The best seat is the Recaro Start. Its quite expensive at £190.....but worth every penny. Goes from 9 months through to 12 years (36kgs) So will last you a long long time! Ive had one for years, it looks like a racing seat, and that does for my son!
As for the airbag.....doubt you can turn them off in the rx! But why do you need them???? just dont crash! ;)

I\'ve got mama\'s and papa\'s rear facing child seat for my son (new born). Fits onto front seat no problem, top chord of seat belt attaches around the top of the seat and the bottom chord goes over and under the child.
As for the airbag I suppose the safest way would be to have it removed. I wouldnt trust any other way just incase.

Thanks matey.
It\'s not actually for me but a mate is making enquiries!
Does that fit in the back or front and is it rear facing??

The mind was working quicker than the eyes......read that bit and started to snigger.....before the rest of the sentence ended! :Laugh
Unfortunately I couldn\'t see any way of turning off my passenger airbag, so my little girl (3yrs) can\'t (read won\'t) go for a trip in the car. :(
Do you think we might be able to do a group thingy to get someone to make a booster sort of seat for fitting in the back buckets?
Didn\'t even know we had passenger airbags!! Is this all models? Or just after a certain year?
Just the later cars...99 onwards I believe. And even then really easy to get rid.

Its not rear facing, which is why its only for 9 months on, by then a child is considered to have strong enough neck muscles to support its own head. Although the good thing about the Start is that you can tilt it back, and so in the event of an accident it reduces the whiplash. If you need one, speak to Martyn at Demon Tweeks on 01978 663 014...tell him I passed you on, and hopefully he will look after you ;)

Yeah having re-read it I can see where there could be some confusion....I do have a small arse, but I cant fit in this thing!

airbags are fine in the front....as long as your daughter is in the front seat with the seat pushed back then everything should be ok.
Don\'t deprive her of the rotary thrill...honestly Ive been running my son in the front seat of the car since he was born.....I think its the safest place, I used to work at a seat firm for Honda, and the stats prove the safest place in the car if you are hit is in the front

In fact some early FD\'s have air bags also 92 on jap type X and UK models,

u could switch the airbag circuit very easily from the power side of the controller, my little chap go\'s in the front of mine and i have to neatly fold my bird up and squeeze her in the back lol, dont think there would be a seat to go in the back as the bucketness of the seat is quite deep
