Is there any way you can add ABS to an FC that doesnt have ABS?
Matt
:3Confused
It\'s possible but a lot of work :
- Hubs need changing to incorporate the toothed gear wheels.
- Sensors need fitting
- ABS ECU needs fitting
- Brake line system needs changing to incorporate ABS manifold
Probably more than that but can\'t remember the rest.
Just use cadence or progressive braking and get good rubber on your wheels.
Just feel like their bit spongy, and squeek alot!
Pads and discs look okay.
Change brake fluid and dont drive as fast good suggestions?
abs wont help those problems
Okay.
Just thought there may be a way of improving the brakes to slow down the llittle rocket. Once it goes, seems a shame to slow down earlier if you dont have to.
haha.
Thanks for the help.

Upgrade disks and pads - that\'s the best way to get more stopping power.
Stock FC calipers are pretty good - with the right pads and disks you can halve your stopping distance. I use Black diamond disks and Hawk pads, but there are plenty of good choices out there. It\'s worth spending money on brakes - you only get one chance at stopping :)
Other good and cheap mods:
Change brake fluid (it gets tired) - use dot 4 or dot 5
Use braided brake lines
Do a health check on all the lines and seals
Bleed the brakes
Just wondering the brake fluid reservoir says only use dot 3 fluid, is this a set in stone statement?
Or can dot 4 or 5 be used safely?
Matt
Minimum of DOT3:D
P.
DOT 4 can be safely used in DOT 3 systems, the stock FC setup should not feel spongy???
Interesting about brake systems!
improving brakes on the budget.
Standard disks with 4 slots(2slots per side at 90* apart like this I I) with cutter grinding say "2 light cuts" per slots.
standard mazda brake pads:- add extra slot with 2 hacksaw blade and cut 90* apart like this +. 4 blocks per pads
Brake fluid=5.1 dot with adjustable prop valve e.g trion ( forgot spelling)
It\'s works for me!!:Thumbsup!
Don\'t do it if not happy with it.
All is for sprint race:-short, fast and hard braking track and no place for error!

I think the spongyness at the end of braking is the brake master cylinder knackered maybe
ill change the fluid and see if it improves, if not anyone got a brake master cylinder laying around.
Mite add master cylinder stopper aswell.
Thanx

Anyone got an alright set of disks and pads?
This trick sound cost effective, mite be worth a try.

^ I had this exact setup on my EGI - I was using Greenstuff pads though - seriously good braking ability :D :god
swop your calipers to fd ones, should be almost a straight swop? then good pads n disc`s, braided hose, brake stopper and good fluids and you`ll be amazed at how good they`ll become :)
any chance you can send a pic of how the disks should be modified?
Would help a great deal.
How much is a set of greenstuff pads all round?
Thanx
iv found greenstuff are poo.. red stuff are better i think but theres better still,.. think about £80-£100 for all rounds about the price bud
Interloper,
Stick the fd\'s up the Ayrshire cow and it\'s moo!:Thumbsup!

Im sure the cow will be happy! HaHa!
Can you write that bit about the cutting and grinding again please? or a diagram may be easier.
Thanks,
:)
