Hey folks

looking for some help with my ongoing problem...:Grrr

I have posted this before but am still no closer to a solution.

Basically... digital odometer display has blacked out and is somehow linked to the fact that the car will not rev past 3500-3700rpm.

Accelerates normally up to this point then bang... revs die - feels like a fuel cut, as soon as they drop below the car accelerates normally again.

If i hold revs just below this point I can down change and bounce the revs above 3500rpm and then accelerate up to 4800rpm approx, then same happens.

Initially this was an intermittent problem, when odometer comes back on problem dissapears!

It first occured after sitting for 2 weeks outside when i was on hols!

So far I have...

rebuilt rats nest
new battery
re-seated a few of the obvious eart points and the earthing kit
checked for error codes (none)
inspected ECU

Car is pretty much standard 1992 FD...

Any ideas really appreciated!

Hmmmm, have you checked the turbo\'s, they are sequential thus kick in at 3500rpm and 4500rpm which is exactly where you say you are having issues ?

Not had a TT for a while so one of the TT owning people will know the exact revs the turbo pack kicks in, but sounds like a turbo issue ?

If it was a turbo issue surely it would still rev past 3500rpm?? even if there is no boost? This is more like fuel-cut..

First turbo should come in around 2300rpm.

Sorry, thats not much help with your problem.

In my opinion you can save a lot of time and money by taking it to a specialist, prefereably with a dyno, who will be able to run diagnostics and should be able to tell you whats wrong within minutes. (how I solved an ongoing problem I had)

Hope that helps.

Rob.

ta for replies...

Would a faulty sensor not show up when extracting the error codes from the ECU?

And why would this be lnked to odometer issue?

No error codes are being indicated.
