Title: Plea for help!
Post by: m4drx on June 01, 2007, 06:47:45 PM
hi guys, i havent bothered you for ages now with any issues but suddenly i have one
:(

car has been running fine for ages now after i did lots and lots of work to the boost side of things and finally got the car spot on.

anyway. for those of you who dont know its an FD with full decat, apexi on base map, greddy e-01 boost controller, hard pipes etc twice what has happened is i have driven around with full boost both turbos and perfect changover but at the end of a track day i suddenly lost boost on second turbo, so that meant a 10 8 0 zero pattern ie zero boost after changover, after the point of changover a sudden rush of air could be heard but no idea where from i took off the air filter etc had a look under the pressure chamber but found nothing, resetted the boost controller and did a load of things but couldnt find a problem, afterwards it was suddenly fine again!

then castle coombe, drove there spiritedly all fine, didnt race, drove back all fine until half way then 0.1 or 0.2 bar maybe a bit more boost but i thought a intercooler pipe had come off, 10 miles later all was well again!

i had put these two down to the wastegate getting stuck open or something to that effect.

yesterday i went to hatfield and decided to blast through a few tunnels all was fine then after a few hard runs all was ok but driving home suddenly the feeling of no boost ie the boost wouldnt come in instantly like normal.

put my foot down but now the car doesnt boost but after 2-2 and a half thousand revs it boosts lots then changover comes and nothing. but there is definately a delay.

recently i have been watching intake temps as i have put in twin blitz filters and a heat shield and i have seen cruising temps of 30 and up to 40s when in traffic but almost all the time in the 30s which is great...

however ever sice yesterday and this issue the intake temps are up in the high 40s to high 50s fast!

what could be causing this heat...?

(water temps seem to be fine but i have a uprated rad and apexi set at 90 degreez anwyway)

please help! i need to do the rx7 proud tomorrow and show off at an event and the car has no proper boost and intakes really high!

Could be eather a hose split, dodgy actuator on the butterfly in the Y pipe or a solonoid on the way out!!
Had a similar problem with mine, but when the second turbo wasn\'t engaging the primary was making 17psi!!!!! so obviously I went through everything & found the pipes to the actuators were shafted!!!

turned out to be a pipe on the y pipe actuator as you said. i just decided to check everything i had replaced staring with the easiest ie without taking off the plenum and especially hoses that arent viton and found one of my ebay rubber hose jobbies truely knackered!!

all fixed now and faster than it has been for a while due to detioration there was hardly any air to activate the actuator!

i will explain with pics as this is one to be warned about...

do not use ebay rubber hose jobbies as they really arent up to it even with a wall 5 times thicker than viton or stock mazda!

appreciate your help jono although i didnt see it if i had could have got to the problem quicker but tbh took me 15 mins :) thats a first!

just began to think with the heat that something could be siezed somehow in the turbopack but then the logical brain kicked in rather than fantasy and i realised why!

:) very pleased with meself

i aslo got me a HUGE petrol rc monster truck today too! :InLove

far too many toys now!!! :Santa
