Hi
does anyone know any good people who can carbon fiber parts like door handles etc
thanks in advance
Think you can buy these of the shelf
check out the guys above sure gary at rotaryart can get them

Yes, Gary does Carbon Fiber covering, he also supplies lots of carbon fibre parts. He\'s having a complete nightmare with BT and broadband at the moment so you may have to keep trying him. His phone number is in his profile.
cheers guys and if there is anyone else i would appreciate knowing

giv it ago yerself, basic shapes r a doddle , just cover with clear resin, pop on the fiber glass and cover agin with resin.. sand smooth and polish up :)
iv got a bit of cloth coming soon so im guna giv it a wirl :) gunna see if i cn make a glove box holder fer n4bes boost controller n tings..
were did you get the stuff from
I know Clive has doors, wings and boot lis on his new site.. must one hell of a weight saving!!!

its a lot harder to work with than fibreglass, especially if you want to leave it bare for the pose value. It\'s much harder to wet fully with the resin and if you get dry bits it won\'t look very good and will be even worse from a structural point of view ! This is why pre impregnated carbon is used which is then vacuum bagged to keep the carbon close to the mold and remove all the bubbles ... its then baked to activate the resin. You also can\'t use standard fibreglass resin unless you don\'t want it for show as it\'s not clear.
IMHO ... read as much as you can, ask an expert from a place that sells the material and buy what they recommend and give it a go ! I am making some stuff out of Kevlar for my car but it\'s not for show or structural as the resin will be there to hold the kevlar in shape only.
hehehe you said impregnate the carbon :evillaugh
True the polyester resin isn\'t totaly clear, but the tamount you would be putting on to rub back and polish you wouldn\'t notice a difference!!!

I work for a company which produces various composite materials. Currently producing the new aston martin bodywork. We produce a material which is a sandwich of precatalysed resin between dry fabrics i.e. there is no wet out of the fibres. This allows autoclave results from simple vacuum bagging as the air is removed before the resin is heated and allowed to flow, the result is a part with minimal void content. //www.gurit.com look at Sprint products

Sounds like really cool stuff. Wish I had the skills to use it.
try this people

Take a look at this: http:// www.webbikeworld.com/t2/carbon-fiber-motorcycle-parts/ (http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/carbon-fiber-motorcycle-parts/) for some info on building carbon fiber parts.
For structural work, I believe epoxies are used for carbon fibre, but if this is just for show, then you could use a polyurethane emulsion, or even a spray on acrylic clear coat.
eopxy isn\'t too expensive I bought a kilo of high temp epoxy for about £30 IIRC
Can\'t remember what the ratio is of fibre to resin but its not very high for carbon and kevlar
