Title: *boing* sound after induction
Post by: JohnP on June 01, 2007, 10:42:14 AM
i\'ve just fitted and induction kit.. never before has the car made such a weird noise.

If i accelerate hard, upto say 6k and come off throttle to change gear, i get a really weird *boing* sound.. like air pressure coming back through something it shouldnt. I dont think its the redundent breather that comes off the back of the engine (see below arrangement) doesnt do it everytime

i wouldnt of thought it was anything to do with the waterpump being unveiled now it doesnt re-circ?

Its a really crisp, high pitch noise and last for no more than 1/10th of a second. Its nothing mechanical and its definetly a noise made from something being under pressure.

That noise is your air pump engaging!!! it\'s the draw through the air pump hose that is making this kift noise!!! every after market kit for the FD comes with a baffle to get rid of this noise, but not every one realises what it does...... sepcialy if you buy the kit second hand, you hardly ever get the baffle!!

Bin the air pump is the best way!!! easy if you have a power fc, but it will need a slight tweek to compensate!!

the way i was told is , the pipe that should be attached to the airpump needs a bung putting in it to reduce the size of the bore , i used a piece of broom handle and drilled a 13mm hole down the centre of it lol can still hear it but not as bad

LOL Guys!!  Not replied as i\'ve been on my stag doo this weekend..  I\'m glad i\'m not the only one.. the does sound like it came straight off a zx sinclair spectrum or sonic the hedgehog on E.  i might just shorten the hose i took off, and fit another breather to it.. should do the job :D

i\'m not conifident enough to do the full removal mod yet... not had her long :)
