Title: Service at weekend
Post by: ash on January 22, 2004, 03:57:45 PM
Hi,

I am going to carry out a service on my gen 3 rx7, this will include replacing the plugs (9\'s and 7s), new oil and oil filter and possibly fuel filter. (Need to check to see if that been done in the past 12,000 miles).

The car is running a bit lumpy, sometimes its fine other times it feels like fuel starvation or poss. boost loss.

If its fuel starvation would cleaning the injectors with Redex do an damage? I have read through a previous post and seem to get mixed opinions - any one with more recent experience?

Also when i change the oil filter, i have read that the stock one is not good, is this true if so any suggestions to which to use?

Thanks
Ash

i\'m a firm believer that regular oil changes is the key to good engine life, so i change mine every 1500 miles, i,ve always used a champion filter- part no F129(can get this in halfords), and i use a mineral oil not synthetic!
its up to you though mate!;)

I\'m not to sure on that as i\'ve never done it myself!
i\'d change the plugs ang oil first and see how it goes!
and the feul filter wouldn\'t hurt either as this is a filter that some people tend to forget about! me personally would try these first before i used n e additives!
i\'m sure theres plenty of people on here that have had pick up problems! plus a service never hurts!:)

Im forking out big bucks of £19ea from Mazda themselves, apparently NGK only supply these plugs to Mazda and cannot be bought anywhere else (UK) that is anyway.

The car already had a spare set of 9\'s with it.

Sorry, Mazda dealer got the spark plug wrong - £19 was for the 9\'s!

Getting rotecniks to do the service anyway now.
