Title: Should I change the Tyres?
Post by: evo_ray on May 28, 2007, 02:46:20 PM
I have been advised that I should change the rubber on my FD as it is a Japan import and came to me with Hankook Ventus K102 tyres on it.  I did a bit of research and found a site that actually rate this tyre in the wet.

http://www.ctyres.co.uk/tyres/hankook.php

I haven\'t taken the car out in the wet yet but can someone clear this up for me?

If you do a search you will find XXXXXX comments about Jap rubber and the need to change ASAP before you wrap it around aomething solid!

Go for toyo T1r\'s or Eagle F1\'s IMO. :)

Can\'t see any emark on them anywhere! Have emailed Hankook to clarify this matter of whether they use different compound in different markets.

I know there are xxxxxxxx threads stating that we should change the Jap rubber asap but I didn\'t change the rubber on my evo 4 and that was awsome throughout winter.

Tyre manufacturers recommend tyre changes on a two yearly basis due to degradation because of the sun. If the cars come from Japan then this is going to be an issue............better safe than sorry that black bit of rubber is the only think between you and a RTA.
