I just want to be 100% sure that a set of 8.5x18" and 9.5x18" with +45 offsets all round will go on an FD?
Yep. Will fit fine according to the excel doc I have.
What wheels you getting ?
I\'m swaping Advan RG\'s for some Blitz Z1\'s
I think they would suit better on a more stock looking fd.
make sure they clear your brakes bud or youll have the same problem i did.
Ed, if you don\'t mind me asking what offsets do you end up with?
I thought about clearance for the Brakes, but the thing is the Calipers etc are still in the garage collecting dust (need to get the Brackets made...Still) so its a bit of a Risk.
it might be tight with those offsets my 8.5x18 ultralites are 35 or 38 offset and clear my ap racing brakes but u are taking it another 7mm closer to the caliper..shd still be ok but risky
Bit of confusion but i\'ve found this now.
Ok i\'ve just been informed there +41mm Offsets on the front and +45 on the rear (9\'s on the Front and 10\'s on the rear) so thats getting better, with a bit of luck the next time i ask it will be +38 (Only joking if your reading)
the higher the offset the closer in they sit which means they sit closer to the hub...........to be honest but it all depends on the wheel/spoke design....trust me you dont wanna get them and then get your brakes fitted then you\'ll be in a whole world of hurt if they dont fit......(like i was)....i can only suggest wet the brakes on first...then take measurements for clearance and go from there........unless you wanna take thr risk and rely on spacers........
its the 4 pots on the rear that were the bugger for me!!!
Quote from: Ed_RX7but it all depends on the wheel/spoke design....
What Ed said; some 18s struggle to fit a 330+caliper inside - others fit a 356+caliper ok. Its as much wheel design as offset. Also depends on the brake kit components used.
The KAD\'s 355mm disc + 6 pot I run fit under a 17" rim.....but then again my offsets are 29!
Ooooo 101 question time :)
Did you have to do any body mods to get +29 rims in? How wide are they? and how do they sit in the arches?
Cheers ;)
Nope no body mods
8J rims
They sit in the arches absolutely fine
Now for the next 98 questions!
right after a bit of a rethink i\'ve found some work rims that are 38\'s all round. Would i be best scrapping the Z1 idea and going with these to be on the safe side?
Ok, i\'ve just been looking on the US sites and read this http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=416251 thw First post has a Guide and says to keep a 1/4 gap between the tyre and the Arch (on a stock Wing) a +31 (8") is recomended, which goes with what Atomic has been telling me, so if thats about right and there 9" rear ofsets about right if i bought some +33 rims they should give me the best chance of getting some decent space?
The only thing thats not making me rush out and buy them is the fact if they don\'t fit there is not many cars with that offset (that i can find) but if they are too far out are they in the relms of Arch rolling?
I have gone off the +45 off sets now i tried a mates rim on my car with my brakes roughly rigged up and the inside of the face of the rim is quite close on the fronts so i can guess i\'d be in the same boat as ed if i went any where over the +40 mark.
AHHH i\'m all confused again......
I have just been talking to a guy who sells rims, he realy has confused me (i think??)
He told me that on a stock 8" rim the higher the + offset is the more it will push the rim out towards the Wing? they only fit lower offsets when fitting wider rims eg. 9" rims would need to be pulled in 12mm so the offset would need to be droped from a +45 to say a +33 so the Edge of the rim is\'nt stuck out. So if what he\'s telling me is correct a +45 will sit more flush than a +32 on a 8" rim? If what he\'s saying is correct a +45 will be 5mm closer to the suspension than a stock rim??
Does this sound correct or not? because looking at the pic above i can sort of see where he\'s coming from but i have also been told the Oposite.
