Title: smell of petrol under boost
Post by: sadgoth on January 22, 2004, 10:48:03 AM
Ever since I bought my FC TII I have had a smell of petrol when under boost, the guy I bought it from claims Mazda couldn\'t find the fault but it has never got any worse. Fuel consumption is in the low teens as an average so I know there is a leak. Rotechniks have suggested it may be a v small leak in the inlet manifold so it is only noticed under the increased pressure of boost. However as it involves removing intercooloer, plenum chamber and a shedload of piping before you even get to the manifold, they are telling me the likely cost (if that is the problem) is circa £450. :eek Before I go for this option, has anyone experienced this problem? + How easy is it to do the work myself? Cheers, Mark
