i\'ve just been reading up on fake stuff on the market, now i have a question hopefully someone will be able to answer? Here it is,i have recently fitted bomex front and rear bumpers(there the real deal and have their logo webbed into the fiberglass resin) but i\'ve removed the alloy bars that are in behind the standard bumpers as i could not fit the new bumpers with them there, are these alloy bars -roughy the width of the car and about 4-6 inches deep there as strengthening of the chassis and to help asorb impact within a crash?or just to strengthen the bumpers?
are they not crash bars incase of an impact?
this is what im trying to find out their only held on with 4 small size 10 bolts so im not sure
yes they are for crash protection
they arehollow inside, I think for the reason of absorbing damage in collision.
I remember in mine, it had a few wires held onto it for lights etc, did you just detach them from the alu block and leave them hanging?
I would have thought that the rear bar atleast should fit behind the new bumper.
The front unit changed shape from early to late model, to allow for the different lights and mounting of the front number plate. Not sure about any changes in the rear.
Fish
i did rush the rear it was 12.30 in the morning and was working by moonlight! i will whip it off and get those bars back in!
I don\'t think the front bar will fit, but I\'m almost sure that the rear should do.
ok i\'ve check the workshop manual and they are described as bumper reinforcement bars with the polystyrene on the front being described as support foam and the foam on the rear being energy absorbing foam
I will try to fit both back on as im sure this will also help with chassis strength and roll ect

You\'ll probably have to get creative with the airsaw to make them fit. Dunno about helping with roll - but they might just be enough to stop u dying if u stack it badly :Thumbs-up
