Check if theres antifreeze in it or plain water before stripping everything.

Check the drain pipe for the air con unit then as if theres no antifreeze in it assuming theres some in the engine its not the matrix. A bit crude but wet the tip of your finger in the water if it tastes sweet then its coolant if not then air con drain or a leak is more likely.

I\'m not 100% up on the fd on the cosmo if you remove the trim under that section of the dash it is a soft rubber pipe that runs from the underside of the heater unit forward through the bulkhead nodoubt one of the fd guys will tell you for sure but if there\'s no antifreeze in the water its unlikely to be the matrix you dont want to spend a few hours stripping it for nothing.

drain on an fd is just in front of the passanger foot well, about the same place as you would drop water if your heater matrix pipes were leaking.i know it sounds bad but try tasting a drop on your toung you will soo know if its anti freeze.

heater matrix is actually behind the dash located in the middle. Its usally the pipes from the air con unit which is to the left of the heater matrix (passenger side) that tend to leak, make sure the tight or havent developed any cracks any where. Or even better, rip your air con out lol!

I have a spare heater matrix should you need to replace it!  Perfect order.

The matrix can only be got at, if you remove the whole dash, which is easier than it sounds!

the matrix sits over the transmission tunnel and is connected to the firewall, if you put you head under the dash, on the passenger side, you will see the following:

From left to right:

ECU panel
Round Fan unit (looks like a big sauce pan with wires going in the bottom)
Square AIRCON unit (about 30cm wide)
Heater matrix (what you want)

The pipes for the matrix come in through the firewall from the engine bay, near the wiper motor about 15cm down from the top, they are easilt spotted as water pipes feed them!
