Title: Silly little question - fuel cap
Post by: RedRummy on May 25, 2007, 03:12:29 PM
When I fill up, there is a pretty loud rush of air when I open the fuel cap...

I take it this is air rushing in, caused by the fuel leaving the tank, but should this be happening?

I thought you could get fuel caps which had some kind fo valve in them to let air in and keep fumes (and fuel) from getting out..?

stupid blummin question, i know, but its been annoying me.

Mine only does this when I let the fuel drop below 1/8 of a tank...... fill ups at 1/4 or 1/2 tank it doesn\'t happen!!

ok cool, just wondered if the back pressure would suck the fuel back into the tank  :D

the breather might be blocked? no big deal, the pressure the fuel pump\'s pushing the fuel through, it\'s not going to make much difference...
