Hi,
My FD is running ~350bhp and its got a mahoosive FMIC and a bigger radiator. This, combined with the twin oil coolers means my front end grill space is pretty much taken up...
The intakes for my twins sit right behind the rad / FMIC and I reckon the intake temp is being raised by having to share air with the rad...
Anyone got any ideas how I can route some fresh cold air onto the intakes..?
I\'ve got the 99 spec Mazda front end...
350 on twins i should think they are getting warm anyway of ducting cold air with the use of flexi tubing from the floor??

i run my filter sat inbetween my v- mount geting forced everything that comes at it and hav never had a problem dpsent seem to get dirty??
re-locate them into the drivers wing and vent the wing, i have similar plans to free as much space as poss under the bonnet
Sell the 99 spec bumper to me ;-) and buy one with a wider centre opening !!!!

ive looked into this but it cant be done with twin oil coolers :0( doh
im sure theres a way ma man.. :) is the oil pipe work running along that direction? not had anything off yet to have a nosey, wont be doing it to the black car but the next one im trying to remove as mucho as possible..

thats a plan i spose, but really don\'t want to hack into the wing... it\'d mess up the sexy body lines ;)

hmm... that does seem the most sensible suggestion... actually thinking about it won\'t the undertray block direct air getting to the intakes anyway..
Here\'s the engine bay... you can see the problem.
would a Power FC show the intake temps?
I\'ve got an Apexi ECU, but no commander :((
Well, why not run the Mazda route?
They seperated the 99 spec air flow so it sucked in air underneath the number plate section and had it\'s own seperate intake.
I wouldn\'t worry too much about the Ram Air effect as the turbo\'s will suck more than any ram air can deliver, so just make sure it\'s sucking a cold source.
I\'ll see if I can dig out the Mazda diagrams...
All IMHO.
The Power FC Commander displays both water and intake temps..
Ah here it is:

Hi. I\'ve a similar setup. I dropped 15 deg C inlet temps by moving the rad and intercooler over to the right as far as poss and putting a panel in to direct air from the front around the rad to the intake. I only achieved a 3inch gap. It was enough though. This will improve rad/cooler efficiency by preventing air from passing round the sides. win-win.
Take care that the rad/cooler does not wear through on the frame rail.
