21-05-2007 15:32 HAKATA Left origin country
19-05-2007 21:06 Delivery Agent - JAPAN Collected from customer
I cant describe how much i hate this country. :spank
the duty charges aren\'t the killer it\'s VAT at the "handling charge" that the courier firms stick on for the priviledge of them paying the customs charges on your behalf! Parcel farce charged me £13 for that, on an item which only cost £60! so in total the item cost £60 (inc shipping) + £1.50 in duty + £10.76 VAT +£13 for the helpful parcel force guys paying the the duty/VAT NICE
In sweden we have 3%duty and 25% tax, and the taxes apply to the value+shipping+duty.
Hope everything goes well.

Yeah, thats nice of them, the other problem is the stuff is totalling over £2,500.
Funny thing is i paid extra for the company to "gift wrap" it. Guess i\'ve got away with it too many times. :(
Just hope the declared value is significantly less.
Woohoo mine made it through customs and is currently on a parcel force van somewhere

Just goes to show how much our country SUCKS!
I hate the UK!
Anyone fancy starting a rebellion, executing all the government and putting some decent people in charge. Oh and getting rid of speed cameras and 02 limits.
If i remember rightly the last parcel i had into the UK was a few bits off my car thats being imported at the moment.. (bits that could get easily nicked) a HKS EVC, HKS Boost Gauge and a gear knob.. all marked as a gift.
They got stopped.. and i had to pay £9.50 something V.A.T & then £13 Parcelforce Handling fee!!! i was furious!

Deffinately! :Grrr :Giggle
when u mark stuff as a gift its better that they come giftwrapped and NOT from a company address
If they are coming from a company the best thing to put on the package is:-
COMMERCIAL SAMPLE NO MONETARY VALUE
well thats how we used to import RC plane stuff from the states

The stuff I get from this company always wraps the products in wrapping paper, all the stuff i\'ve had in the past has come wrapped and never any customs problems. So unless someones been investigating?
I rang parcel force yesterday to see how long it would be and they said they\'d not even recieved it from customs yet and they had the power to hold it for as long as they see fit!!!.......
So they still have it now, so by the looks of it im not going to recieve anything till after bank holiday, plus im going to have a lovely customs charge to go with it.
If any of my packages are tampered with im going to take action against them. :reallymad
think thats bad i payed 170 pounds import tax,on a games console i brought from japan, when ups said i almost died, anything in this country to get more money out of ya,thats y we are the highest taxed country in the world ******s

Revenue & Customs have the right to do whatever they like with it, I imagine Parcel Force can pretty much do as they please with it too :Giggle

Hmm, if u buy some thing here the tax has been paid - if u import it its taxed on arrival - lifes a bitch :(
Highest taxed country in the world? dont think so, there are loads of european countries with higher rates of income tax than the UK for e.g.
Dont get me wrong, I dont for a minute think that we get a fair deal - just that its may be a bit short sighted to think we are the only ones who get ****ed! :rollin
pigme: As I wrote earlier, we have 25% salestax. and our incometaxes are REALLY high.. Don\'t we just love it.... :P
What are you buying anyway? From which company? :P

Been tracking my products and they\'ve now left customs and arrived with parcel force. I\'ve been charged £50!....:2Rolleyes
This is the best thing though, they wont release my parcels to me until the charges have been paid, yet when I ring them up to pay them they can tell me what they are, but i need to wait for a letter from them with a reference number, which will be with me "in the next few days".......
Why cant I just pay it now while I was on the phone??..... Plus they are going to charge me £13 for sending me this letter, for handling it. :2Rolleyes
Joeh. I\'ve ordered bits for my rx when it goes off to get rebuilt, ranging from koyo rad, airfilters, electronics down to small interior parts such as gear knob from nengun. Was hoping to have the parts well in advance before it goes off, but each day is cutting it closer and closer. Customs had my items for 6 days!!
Nengun is a bit of a lottery, first order I placed came through no probs, next one I got whacked for duty, etc

Income tax in UK is one of the lowest in Europe, however the stealth taxes we have do add up to one of the highest tax systems in Europe.
Income tax
National Insurance
VAT
Council Tax
Duty
Car tax
etc etc
And remember all of the additional taxes (i.e. VAT, council, duty, car tax, etc) are charged AFTER income tax!

If any of the products are damaged believe me I will take action as i will hold them personally responsible.

I think with Gordon Browns new policy giving police unlimited power to stop anyone for no reason whatsoever taking away our civil rights, plus his lates one of taking ariel pictures of our property\'s and taxing the hell out of us if we have a nice garden, then I dont think were actually as short sighted as you think!

For second hand stuff I use "Repair under Warranty" which appears to work
Well my parts arrived this morning and what can I say but..................
What a disgusting mess, im so ****ed off it\'s unbelievable.
Customs have damaged all the packaging that the parts arrived in, nearly every box is ripped or damaged. They removed my koyo rad from the box then just threw it back in unsecured with no packing, so the fins are bent from it moving about. My apexi airfilters are missing some brackets as the box was ripped and half open and to top it off my nice trust gear knob didnt even make it here, so god knows where it is.
The best part of it all is that the declared value of my packages was 17,000 yen, roughly £70. I\'ve nearly been done that again with the customs charges.
Im absolutely speechless about how they can make a complete mess of my parts and then charge me for the pleasure. Im seeking legal advice later on today.
That\'s not good mate :(
Deffo get some legal advice as I would suggest that loss and damage of goods is outside the remit of the HMCE
I know mate. In all fairness I wouldnt mind being charged for customs if I recieved my items in the same state that they left japan, but this is just ridiculous!
Bit heart breaking seeing the state of it knowing that it\'s all your hard earned money.
The problem I see is that it\'s been declared at £70, and the rad is worth far more.. I guess it\'s just the customs way of saying. This is what happens if you try to rip us off... But then again, I really hope you will get compensated, and that FAST as I know how much I hate the waiting for new parts. Good luck mate!
Cheers mate.
I suppose one thing in my favour if it comes to it is that I had no clue what value nengun had written on my items, the only thing of price that i\'ve known is the full amount i\'ve paid.
But even so basically when it comes down to it, it\'s criminal damage. Who else would have the right to go through your mail, opening it, damaging it, loosing some of it and getting away with it.
If the value is listed at £70 then i don\'t think you will get any more than that back from them. As stated earlier it will be there way of saying don\'t take the pee out of them.
Kevin
Don\'t mess with HMR&C they can make life a lot more miserable than just baout any other agency on this island! Whilst I\'m sypathetic to your plight - you also must be prepared to admit you were caught red handed trying to avoid taxation on the goods - some you win and some you lose.
I know of someone who imported some camshafts with a declared value of £20 (real value of ~£400). HMR&C cut them up "checking for illegal content" I think was the phrase, eventually he got £20 back :(
