Ok... my engine is dead.

What would you do in my situation?

I bought the car 3 months ago for 5.2K. Now the engines dead (due to mass oil leak through oil cooler pipes etc, etc).

I don\'t have the money to get it rebuilt professionally (£3,000!!!!)

buy a working engine block for around 1k and swap blocks across... you should be able to get 250 back for your block? thats a 750 quid option... if you can, make sure you hear the car you get the block from, and make sure you see it run, and start both hot and cold...

Yeah, that\'s a decent , more affordable idea. Just a case of finding such a block tho.

What has failed? has the engine Turned a bearing or some thing like that?

I have to say if an Engine dies due to lack of oil it would be easyer to source a second hand motor.

It wasn\'t due to the lack of oil. I think the lack of oil made things too hot, which resulted in the engine failing.

I\'ve not had it looked at, but I put some vids up the other day etc, and it defo is dead for one reason or another.

PS : I\'ll add more poll options... (if I can)..... (no I can\'t... lol)

Most of the engine builders on here will likely help you to swap the engine for a used one if you ask them. For example, when I was looking for an RX originally, Rotechniks had a nice 95M reg car with an original engine. They offered to put in a recently rebuilt engine for me in order that they could use the old engine as a spare for people in your situation. They offered me an upgrade price (effectively) of about £1500 for a rebuilt engine or a price for a street ported engine at the time of buying the car.

I guess you\'ve already tried this route with the engine builders known on this forum. Hope you find a cheap option to keep your car on the road

Atomic is looking into the whole racing with a sunroof thing.

He suggested putting it up for sale in the mean time etc.
