Well chaps - thats the end of an era for me :( i have sold the coupe and the new owner has just drove it away ( along with all the toys i had collected for it )
i know its gone to a good home and will be well taken care off - it now gives me the much needed time to work on the cab
it was great fun owning the coupe - most fun i have had - im hoping that the cab will give me a similar thrill
the new owner will be on here soon - so treat him nice :D
Stu / Grinder
( gonna go and shed a tear now )
End of an era and beginning of another. Was the new owner tall with a dodgey mullet ?
Might he be someone used to playing with an FC - not trying to give the game away or anything !:Nono! :Laugh
It was the sensible option Stu. Just make sure you use the cab a bit more.
Kevin
ha ha ha i like your thinking prof ( wouldnt go asfar as a mullet though ??? )
and yeah i know its the sensible move aswell - got one exhaust on the cab - need another few hrs to get it sorted
the house planning has been passed - so a car needed to go anyways
the new owner said that i can run it down the strip at RS4 - so thats cooool :D
sad day, but as everyone has said, the sensible option. I\'m looking forward to seeing it finished with all the bits that were in the "things to to pile" installed.
Must be a relief to offload the death shed onto a new owner :Giggle
now now, we all know that the huge amount of welding in that car should hold it together for at least another week! ;)
yeah the new owner looked at all the parts with some crazed glint in his eye :D
im sure it will be a nice car once its all sorted - i just didnt have the time or the space to do it
i must learn from this .. do not buy stuff for the cab
and brett - im gonna refrain from answering that .. it wasnt a death shed - maybe a death porch - but defo not a shed :D
Quote from: grinderi must learn from this .. do not buy stuff for the cab
I give you a week.... :Giggle
already bought the sports cat for it !!
OK - i wont buy anything else :D
Of course you won\'t..... :rollin
well done grinder.. that car was ace but im sure you wont miss it too much once you get the cabrio on the road.
At least youve still got one - I shall soon be rexxless as my EGI is on ebay to make room for my lancias return. Could easily replace the coupe for a quicl project :P
Still, i dont think i had a long enough time as an f3cs driver. I\'ll be back...
Everybody comes back in the end... you\'re one of us now :evillaugh
Once you go Jap, you dont go back...
Well sorta true lol, at least not for long..
i still miss my car being sat on the drive
plan is to drive the cab round for 12 months and then do one of 2 things
1 - buy a catherham type car
2 - import a fully kitted FC - even if it costs me a good few K i should break even from the sale of the coupe and the cab combined :D
Option 2 looks good mate :D :yes
i must admit - i thought you would like that !!
i reckon for about 3K i can get a 300 BHP FC on my drive way ??
You wouldnt need to import one to do that - chuck £1k at the one on your drive and you will get that.... :yes
that would prob get me a ECU and inital map
cant see me getting that sort of power without a bigger turbo ??
I reckon 280 is possible - my goal is to try and see 250atw with the stock tubby....
I think £1k to get 300 bhp would be a struggle even at the fly tbh. Although it would be possible for not much more than that if you really planned out your mods.

wheel or fly ?
could do 300 fly with the following:
Aftermarket exhaust (cat removal) (£100)
Ported wastegate (diy job)
FCD (£20)
Fuel computer (£80)
Larger secondaries (£80 for a pair)
Modified intake / Air filter (£100?)
WI for cooling (£150)
Boost controller (£150)
Could get all of that for under 1 big one !
^^^ really????
didn\'t think the stock fueling and breathing was that restrictive! I wouldn\'t have thought you get much more that 260/270 at the fly without either a bigger turbo or some porting
You can push the existing turbo to about 12 psi (maybe a bit more, but the George Forman Interwarmer won\'t keep up). However, he is going to need to trick more fuel into engine to keep up with the extra air coming in for higher boost.
On the fuelling side - the stock ECU will not work the primaries beyond 40% after 3800 RPM, so only the secondaries are getting pushed hard. At about 85% these are near their limit. The fuel pump and lines should be good for 300+, but you\'ve got to get the fuel into the engine - hence larger secondaries or additional injectors on a fuel ECU.
Stock Air filter is restrictive, also the 2 90 degree bends in the intake are also restrictive. That, coupled with the exhaust freer flowing will allow the turbo to work more effectively, making 12 psi a possible.
I think 300 fly is possible on a stock turbo - but would need some pushing.
I shot straight upto 1 bar of boost and 250 at the fly with an FCD, 3" bore exhaust and a K&N panel. With the ECU swap it was knocking on 280 and not running lean either - although I do wonder about that car - think it may have had some other tweaks in the past.
i wonder if 280 would be safe in a auto cab ??
I dont see why it would dangerous? Autos are not unsafe - if in doubt remove hoof from loud pedal :yes
yeah good point
not to keep this thread on track ( as per usual ) - i was having a nosey underneath it last night - and you can see that the chassis has extra plates welded on where the coupe didnt ( and they are stock - not a welded fix )
Thats to maintain the rigidity IIRC :)
Yes - they are a bit bendy the old vert\'s !
looks like a perfect jacking point though - it just behind the front wheel - not sure where else has been strenghened ?
