I\'m hopefully going to look at an RX7 on Thursday, is there any sort of guide on here to tell you what to look for?
The car i\'m looking at is Marks one that\'s for sale in the Private section, it\'s had a Reworx rebuild, veilside kit, 19\'s etc, but what sort of mechanical things should i check?
Anywhere in particular for leaks? Power steering problems? Cooling problems etc? Smoke? Gearbox issues?
Just thinking about what i looked for when buying the pulsar :D
Any help would be spot on.
Thanks guys, look forward to becoming a proper member/owner!
I take it you\'ve sold the GTI-R then mate?
Here is the Buying guide Buying Guide (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=394)
Dave :)
Certainly did!
I\'ve got £14k now, but that has to pay for the Car and also £1500 insurance with mods....
Should be able to get a good one i hope - Marks car looks stunning!
Seriously mate, who is going to insure u on a car like that for £1500 at 21??!?
PLEASE make sure you are getting quoted for the right car - too many monkeys quote for the wrong type of RX7...
Check the insurance threads to see premiums of similar ages guys on FD\'s...
There\'s more than one guy who\'s selling/sold his FD immediately after acquisition due to not being able to insure it.
Where is the car btw mate?
Thats true actually mate, I\'m 25 and could only find it for 1200 quid as my only car!!
I had to call Tesco as the car they had on the website was not right.
I got the Number plate from Mark, phoned them back up and the right car came up - 2.6 Twin Turbo Efini 2+2 Seater RX7.
Sorry, but why the hell would i kid myself into this?? The Supra is only £1300, for the Jap import.
I phoned my Insurance company today (Bradgate) as my 4 yrs NCB is just about complete, but they said they\'ll beat Tesco for me......
Their exact words were "Who gave you the quote, to which i answered Tesco, then he said - their where you get your Groceries, let me sort it for you as i can definitely beat it"
They\'re calling me back Thursday.
Anyway, the car is in Porstmouth :)
Thats interesting as I rang many insurance companies and the cheapest I could get as a single car doing 10,000 miles a year fully comp as 1200.
I am 25 with 8 years NCB ?

I guess they just must not like the name Dave;), i got an on-line quote from elephant on a uk car for £950 fully comp with 8k miles p/a. They randomly called me a week later asking if the quote was any good to me and i told the girl on the phone that the car had already gone and then i enquired to whether they did Jap imports and if so how much extra would the policy be. She got back to me and said it would be an extra 100quid:bandit :D
I\'m 24 with only 2 years no claims, Wav:cool
INteresting again due to this: Link (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1532)
Post code??
That can make a big difference.........
I was very happy with the quote - i would never have even dreamed of getting a Supra or RX7 if i hadn\'t got such a cheap quote!
I\'m just looking forward to going to see it, hopefully it\'s as good as it looks!
I\'m in Plymouth, Portsmouth is probably worse, (depending on area)
Well that can add a couple of Hundred straight away?!?!
I live out in the Country, quite a good area - Ooh..... plus we have CCTV at home, my parents house insurance is with Tesco so maybe they knew this
Anyway, i\'m 100% certain it\'s for the right car so i\'m sticking to it until my current insurance company come back to me!!

Hmmm, surely it is their fault if they don\'t cover you for the correct car, not yours! as long as you gave/give them all the correct information you can:confused:
Regards, Paul:)
I am of the belief that insurance companies makem up premiums as they go along
whilst I don\'t doubt your quote Nick I do wonder where the hell some insuirance companies get their figures from
If you have the quote in writing then go for it
btw I am about to pay £1450 with protected NCB, age 23, 4 Yrs NCB, with one SP60 ban, on a 95 modded car
Dave
They all make it up as they go along, im convinced. There is never consistency.
Lee
Dave - that\'s about right mate!
You\'re 1.5 yrs older then me, but you have an SP60 - so £50 cheaper is about right i\'d say???
I think it depends on how they are feeling on that day.
They are all rip off merchants!
hmm swings and roundabouts
I reckon its all about the postcode to be honest
Tesco are also going to insure my BMW at the same time, but they want 1k to do it
which is really pissing me off
have to use the no claims on the Rex you see
Dave
Plus you\'re protecting your NCB, that can make a big difference!
if you have 4 years NCB and they let you protect it, DO IT !!
Yeah i may ask about that - won\'t it go up loads though?
My quote inc. protected no claims.
Some do it as a fixed fee other a percentage. one place offerd it for an extra 20 quid another place offered it for an extra 200!!!
probably by about £150.00
well worth it, 4 years no claims is very hard to get back
Dave
Yeah i can imagine it\'d take nearly 4 years or somethign ;)
Sorry, just in a stupid mood!
Getting very excited about the car now.......

Given that a 4 year NCD equates to about 50% discount I\'d say you\'d be wise to have it protected. Otherwise you could end up with a massive insurance bill if you ever make a claim. Remember that you may well be a good driver but that doesn\'t mean shit if someone hits you. Even if it is their fault you have to be able to prove it and that\'s not always that easy.
I had to shop around for insurance and pay ~£1000 fully comp living in London (fairly stock \'95, offroad, no garage, 26 with 8years NCD) I went through Houghton brokers but they only do over 25s.
