Title: 100 ron to 98 ron
Post by: Ian16v on January 20, 2004, 01:55:02 PM
I read that jap cars are set to run on 100ron petrol but when they are imported into this country they need to be reset to take 98ron. Does anybody know if this is done in the sva tests?
Thanks.

Does anybody know what this entails for an Rx7 (3rd gen), does it have to be converted? Is it expensive? Thanx

Unless your car is super tuned you should be ok on Super unleaded.

You will probably get the odd flat point under hard acceleration in certain gears, always use Optimax as its 98 Ron whereas most others Supers are 97 Ron. Worth looking into an octane booster (NF or Millers) you can add that to 97 Ron Super if you can\'t get to a Shell garage! My RX7 is a UK car but the Scooby is an import and requires the \'good stuff\'! If you have the car re-mapped, u will probably lose a bit of performance too  and there is the cost factor :D I\'d say stick to Optimax and use octane booster if you really want the power!:rollin

Its a shame they don\'t have a little hand pump next to the petrol pump which delivered Octane booster in measured amounts, like you used to get in the old days but with 2 stroke oil :D
