Title: what is this called and what does it do?
Post by: michaelb on May 18, 2007, 09:28:23 PM
Hi

Today I want over a hump and as I was going over I scratch something beneath my car.  I reversed and went over the hump in a different angle.

As I was driving away it felt like I was dragging something under the car, I feared the worse â€" exhaust system..

When I looked under there was something what I can only describe what looks like a pin the size of a pen attached to a wire at one end.  The wire was attached to the car beneath.

It almost looked like a temperature sensor of the exhaust if it does exist..

It is a 96 RB Bathurst and I have a silenced dragon performance mid pipe â€" no cat.

I now managed to tuck in under some metal flap…it actually hanged initially closer to the passenger seat â€" at a stretch I was able to reach it with my arm.

What is that part and what does it do?  The car drives no different and behaves the same as before.

Regards,
Michaelb

its the cat temp sensor,  most people just tuck it away when they fit an after market exhaust.  just cable tie up out of the way

Not the lambda sensor, but the cat heat sensor. A temperature probe in effect.

Hi

Thanks for that chaps, I though it might be but I have never seen one before, yes the cat was removed and I guess the sensor was left behind...
